The Baywatch reboot was announced last week, on September 23, 2025, and it seems that one of the actors from the original series has expressed an interest in joining it. Carmen Electra (who played Lani McKenzie) recently expressed interest in returning to the Baywatch world. This has some fans hoping for Lani's return in the reboot.
Ever since the Baywatch reboot announcement, people have been wondering if actors like David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and Carmen Electra would reprise their respective roles for the reboot. Now, it seems that Electra has expressed her interest in joining the upcoming reboot.
What did Carmen Electra say about the possibility of joining the Baywatch Reboot?
On Friday, September 26, 2025, Carmen Electra addressed the possibility of reprising her role in the upcoming reboot of Baywatch in a chat with TMZ. When asked about the possibility of appearing in the Baywatch Reboot, the Lani McKenzie actress said that she would be interested in joining the reboot. Electra also revealed that she is currently having talks with the people involved in the series. There's a catch, though:
"I don't know if I'd want to be in the water. It's the ocean, you know? I love being around the ocean. Working in it is very different. When you're working in the ocean, it is very complicated."
However, she assured that she can still run if she is called to be involved in the reboot:
"I could do the slow-motion run. I can definitely do that. And I still look really good in that suit, so that is not a problem. But the water — maybe I could be a captain!"
This is a reference to the iconic slo-mo running of the original series that ran for eleven seasons. Speaking of which, in May this year, actress Nicole Eggert addressed the slo-mo running scenes on Steve Kmetko's podcast:
"We were the guinea pigs the first two seasons of this new look of Baywatch. Nobody mentioned the slow mo. I heard that [it] happened by accident in the editing room. It was a timing thing, and an editor put it in slow mo, the run, for a montage, and then everybody fell in love with it. So I was running full speed. And let me tell you something, full-speed running in slow motion is not cute. Not cute at all. So the actors later had it so much easier because they knew what they were going into."
What do we know about the Reboot?
As it was announced just a week ago, details about the Baywatch Reboot are scarce. Therefore, we don't know if the old actors and characters will return in this reboot, which is scheduled for a 2025 to 2027 season. The president of Fox Television Network, Michael Thorn, said this while announcing the reboot:
“In its first run, ‘Baywatch’ defined an entire era of beach life and elevated lifeguards to an iconic status. Now, with our partners at Fremantle, this television juggernaut is set for a modern-day comeback. Together, Fox and Fremantle, along with Matt Nix and original co-creator Greg Bonann, will bring the California dream to a whole new generation of fans with fresh stories, rising stars and all the spectacle that make the ‘Baywatch’ franchise a global sensation.”
As mentioned earlier, we can expect to see the Baywatch reboot sometime next year. Apart from that, we know very little about it.
