FBI: International recently aired its Season 4 finale, which ended on a cliffhanger. The police procedural drama marks the second spin-off of CBS’ FBI and revolves around the international Fly Team, which investigates crimes related to US citizens in Europe.
Over the course of its four seasons, the show has been able to create its own identity and gather a dedicated fan base, who tune in to television every week to watch the Fly Team solve new cases.
Now that the fourth installment has come to an end, audiences are wondering if and when there will be an FBI: International Season 5. Fans would be disappointed to know that the show is not returning for a fifth season as it has been canceled by CBS.
Is there going to be an FBI: International Season 5
CBS is not moving forward with FBI: International Season 5. In March this year, the network announced that the show had been canceled after four seasons, along with its sister show, FBI: Most Wanted.
On the other hand, the mothership FBI series was given another season renewal. It will be joined by a new show in the franchise titled CIA. The decision surprised many as FBI: International, which was generating decent ratings every week, was not given a proper send-off.
At the time, CBS did not reveal the reason behind the cancellation. However, the network's Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach later talked to the media in May 2025 and disclosed that financial viability was the reason behind not moving ahead with a fifth season. She said:
“We have to be fiscally responsible and ultimately, those deals and the shows just weren’t penciling out for us from an economic perspective. But we want to be in the business with Dick [Wolf]. We’re excited to launch a new two-hour block next season.”
Along with the two FBI spin-offs, several other long-running dramas have also been axed by CBS this year to make way for new shows. The canceled series include popular names like The Equalizer and S.W.A.T. S.W.A.T. is instead getting a spin-off show named S.W.A.T. Exiles.
FBI: International wrapped up filming at the beginning of May. At the time, the cast members took to Instagram to express their feelings about the last day of the shoot, appreciating each other.
Eva-Jane Willis, who stars as Megan "Smitty" Garretson, posted a picture with Vinessa Vidotto, who plays Cameron Vo, and Carter Redwood, who plays Andre Raines, and wrote:
“On this our last day of filming I want to say a special thank you to these two. They were there on Day 1 long before I was and they made it all the way to the finish line. It has been an honour to watch them and learn from them. My favourite duo: and trust me I was asking 'will they won’t they' more than anyone!”
The series aired its final episode on May 20, 2025, which featured Wes Mitchell heading to Japan to catch a serial killer, while the rest of the team waited to find out which of Vo and Raines got a promotion. Hence, FBI: International has come to an end after four seasons, and a fifth season will not happen at CBS.
