Law & Order: SVU Season 27 premiere shocked the audience with a twist as Odafin "Fin" Tutuola, played by Ice-T, was attacked off duty. Ever since, he has remained missing in action and has not appeared in any more episodes of the season.

Audiences are concerned about the Sergeant and are wondering whether he will come back to the police procedural drama. Aimé Donna Kelly, who plays Renee Curry in the show, has now revealed the answer.

In an interview with TV Insider, Aimé confirmed that Fin is still very much a part of Law & Order: SVU and will return to the series soon. Revealing how the team is already missing the Sergeant, the actress said:

“We all miss Fin…We miss Fin’s energy, but we definitely will have Fin back.”

Aimé Donna Kelly has confirmed that Fin will eventually return to Law & Order: SVU; however, it remains to be seen when that happens. The actress further addressed that the attack on Fin and his absence from the series reflect the struggles officers face in real life. She said:

“It’s another one of those things of just navigating life and bringing real life into the squad room, which is just a testament to the writing. It’s so good. I think we crave that. We want to know more about these people and how hard being an actual SVU detective is.”

Aimé added:

“It takes a toll on the mind and on the body. And I think Fin is the character where we’re seeing the physical toll that it takes to be an SVU detective, which I think is just written so beautifully.”

Ice-T has been a part of Law & Order: SVU since the second season. He has appeared in the second most number of episodes of the show, after Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. Over the years, Fin has become a fan favorite due to his tough personality and loyalty to the team.

Aimé entered the series as a guest star in Season 22 and has been promoted to series regular in Season 27. During the interview, Aimé highlighted how Fin helped her character, Renee, to be comfortable in the team, which makes their bond special:

“He’s another one that took a minute to get used to Curry and then took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. I’ll never forget that episode where we walk into the apartment and it’s like this body that’s in a garbage bag and tied up and chopped in pieces. And that’s the first time Curry experiences that and Fin in the way Fin is is like, ‘You good? You need to get yourself together. Alright, let’s go.’ Not with kitten gloves, but very much like, ‘I got you. But toughen up at the same time.’”

Law & Order: SVU Season 27 also stars Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson, Peter Scanavino as Assistant District Attorney Dominick "Sonny" Carisi, Jr., Kelli Giddish as Sergeant Amanda Rollins, Kevin Kane as Detective Terry Bruno, and Octavio Pisano as Detective Joe Velasco.

Law & Order: SVU Season 27 airs new episodes on NBC on Thursdays.
