Hot on the heels of the news that The Young and the Restless alum Rebecca Staab (ex-April Stevens; ex-Elizabeth Barrington, Port Charles) is filming The Irresistible Blueberry Bakeshop and Café opposite Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) comes word that she has landed another gig opposite Hollywood star Helen Hunt.
The actress took to Twitter to announce the news that she is one of the stars of Live Like Line, an emotional sports film based on the true story of an Iowa City high school volleyball team that is battling for the state championship in the wake of the tragic death of their star player, Caroline Found (Danika Yarosh). Helen Hunt will portray Kathy Bresnahan, the team's tough-love coach, while Staab will portray the mother of Caroline's best friend, Kelly (Erin Moriarty, ex-Whitney Bennet, One Life to Live), who must move past the death of her friend and fill Caroline's role as team captain and playmaker.
"So proud to be part of this inspirational film playing Kelly (@ErinMoriarty_)'s mom, Bethany," Staab wrote of the project.
Live Like Line, directed by Sean McNamara and written by David Aaron Cohen with revisions by Elissa Matsueda, begins production this month in Vancouver, Canada.
Since leaving Genoa City in 2008, Staab has gone on to appear on shows like Desperate Housewives, Glee, Dexter, and Masters of Sex. Moriarty left Llanview in 2010 and has since gone on to be one of Hollywood's up-and-comers to watch. She landed a role opposite Vince Vaughn in 20th Century Fox's comedy The Watch and had roles in projects like Captain Fantastic opposite Viggo Mortensen, Red Widow, True Detective, and Netflix's Jessica Jones. This summer, she'll be seen as the lead in the Lionsgate feature film Blood Father opposite Mel Gibson.
