The Young and the Restless character Chance Chancellor was once played by actor Penn Badgley, years before he became a huge star on Gossip Girl as Dan Humphrey. Last summer, the actor and his wife, singer Domino Kirke Badgley, expanded their family with the addition of twins. Now, the singer is opening up about her experience as a New Year commences.

The Young and the Restless meets all his children

Badgley played Phillip Chancellor IV, the son of Nina (Tricia Cast) and Phillip III (Thom Bierdz), on The Young and the Restless from 2000-01. Badgley and Kirke Badgley's family consists of her older son, Cassius, from a previous relationship, a son, born in 2020, and identical twins born in late summer of 2025.

"It’s hard to summarize this past year in 20 pictures," Kirke Badgley, who married the former The Young and the Restless star in 2017, shared in an Instagram post. "I can basically only slam you all with pics of my blooming belly at various stages, in no particular order.

"I don’t post pics of my kids on IG, but I mainly take pics of my kids, so gathering moments from 2025 wasn’t so easy without their faces helping me make sense of the timeline," the singer explains. "Speaking of not easy, giving birth vaginally to twins was quite the feat! Carrying them til 38 weeks was a victory, I hear, but my body wanted another month.

"We were up against the machine that is the Medical Industrial Complex, and we bowed," Badgley's wife explained. "We found the spaces where we could stretch without feeling constricted, and we flowed. @supernaturalmidwifery was such a huge part us learning how to dance with the monster. Thank you, my love. 16 [years] of doula work simply didn’t cut it.

"Big huge thanks to my beloved @rachelzaslow for being there at our side on the day and beyond," Kirke Badgley added. "As I reflect on asking her to join us, I’m struck by the higher intelligence that happened when we chose to stay home and induce labor for 3 days. The twins got the memo and came out within hrs of arriving at the hospital. Rediscovering my community in NYC during this pregnancy was so challenging, though. I hadn’t been pregnant in the city since I was 25, and back then, no one in my orbit was having kids yet.

"For my second child, we were in lockdown," the singer shares. "I was held so imperfectly by so many dear ones this time around, and so perfectly by so many unexpected ones. Accepting that I also hold others imperfectly, every day, will continue to be the theme of this past year. I released an album I was so incredibly proud of and a bunch of videos that mean so much to me.

"I was supposed to tour before I found out I was pregnant. I couldn’t," Kirke Badgley laments. "I put the record out anyway. I made art inside and outside of my body. It couldn’t wait. They couldn’t wait. Here’s to having no time and making art anyway. Here’s to being held imperfectly so you can learn to hold yourself better, so you can hold others imperfectly. Rinse, wash, repeat."
