On the Basic Black jet, an impatient Brady wondered why Nicole did not tell him about Chloe if she knew his lost love was alive. He also talked to his picture of Chloe, telling her Nicole was history if she turned out to be alive.
Nearby, Sami was preoccupied by the idea that the truth would get out about her as Stan. Lucas could tell that something was on her mind and asked for the truth. Sticking to her story, Sami insisted she had done no wrong, and that she didn't remember how she ended up with Tony, just like she didn't remember getting into bed with Brandon. Lucas promised Sami he would get to the bottom of whether his mother had something to do with the Brandon mess as well as why Sami ended up with Tony. A meek Sami felt that Tony was either long gone or dead, but Lucas did not think the authorities would give up their search for Tony in order to bring him to justice. Shaking off the subject, Sami wanted to think of seeing her son and possibly planning a future with Lucas. A wary Lucas said there were still too many questions, so they would have to wait and see about that future.
After telling the group on the plane about Philip being injured in the minefield, Shawn prepared to fly home to Belle. Before the jet took off, Philip's captain boarded and gave Shawn a letter from Philip. The letter asked Shawn to look after Belle while he was recovering from his injuries, and thanking him for organizing the mission. The letter also gushed of his love for his wife and asked Shawn to tell her that nothing would come between them again. After take off, Rex cautioned Shawn to give up on Belle, but Shawn refused to let go. Rex also warned that Belle would not leave Philip while he was recovering and that she belonged with Philip like he belonged with Mimi. Sick of hearing about Philip's recovery, Shawn sulked off to another corner of the jet as it landed in Salem.
Outside Alice's Restaurant, Kate worried about the lack of news on Philip as Roman tried to comfort her by telling her the explosion was probably nowhere near the boys. Kate continued to fume over her fight with Belle stating how sickened she was that Belle pretended to care about Philip while she had been emotionally cheating on him all this time with Shawn. When Kate brought up the sacred vows of marriage, a guilty Roman thought once again of his night of passion with Marlena. Roman started to tell Kate something, but instead reminded her that Alice's was where they got married. A helpful Kate then reminded him it was also where he was killed. Sharing a moment, Roman thanked Kate for sticking to her word to look after Sami while he was gone, especially because it could not have been easy for her when Sami got engaged to Lucas. Interrupting the conversation, Roman received word from the ISA that the hostages were on their way home, so Kate and Roman started to make calls and plans to throw a celebratory party that night at Alice's.
At the penthouse, Marlena briefly comforted Belle before Mimi arrived. John received word that all the hostages were on their way home on the jet. With Belle relieved, Marlena excused herself after getting a phone call from a patient. Belle and Mimi were convinced that if Philip was not okay, the Marines would have called by now. Unfortunately, the Marines were calling Belle to counsel her but they were calling her answering machine at home. Instead, Belle and Mimi talked in blissful ignorance of Philip's condition and focused on the upcoming emotional annihilation of the men they loved. Mimi got word that her sentencing date had been moved up to her wedding day, and begged Belle to help Rex find someone new. Belle did not think Rex could ever move on, even if he thought she was a killer. After getting a call from Roman about the party, the two headed down to Alice's where a still angry Kate asked her to worry more about her husband than Shawn.
At the clinic, Chloe decided to call Marlena to ask for advice about Brady's return to Salem. Nicole thought it was a bad idea, but Chloe explained she had always been a good friend to her. Nicole fretted that Brady would never forgive her for not telling him about Chloe being alive, and Chloe felt it was all her fault for making Nicole keep mum. Nicole thought it sounded like Chloe had made up her mind to tell Brady that she was alive. Nicole also thought it was brave and told Chloe that Brady would return to her because he loved her and he was a good guy. A little peppier, Chloe swore when Brady learned about the nurse that caused her infection that he would track her down and make her pay. A shifty eyed Nicole thought to herself that Brady would definitely kill her. Later, Marlena arrived and counseled Chloe to tell Brady she was alive because he needed to know. Under the pretext of giving Chloe time to think, Nicole took Marlena into the hallway to warn Marlena that Chloe needed time to make the right decision. When a sarcastic Marlena questioned Nicole's motive, Nicole guessed that Roman and Marlena had slept together and had not told John. The conversation effectively at a stalemate, the two returned to get Chloe ready for the coming home party.
Inside Alice's an overjoyed Sami reunited with Roman while a somber Lucas told his mother that there was bad news about Philip. A frightened Mimi was relieved to have Rex home, but when he talked about how much he couldn't wait to marry her, she led him away to talk. Belle stood alone outside the restaurant when a single pink rose brushed her cheek. Turning around, she found a clean shaven Shawn and told him how afraid she had been of losing him. When Belle asked whether Philip had been on the jet, Shawn had to tell her Philip was seriously injured but there was no word on how bad an injury it was. He then told her of the letter Philip gave to him to which a panicked Belle yelled, "He can't die! I can't lose him!"
At Alice's, the ex-hostages are reunited with their loved ones. Shawn & Mimi are there to support Belle. Belle tries to be optimistic but a Marine chaplain shows up with news about Philip and she fears the worst.
Philip is on a military transport jet being flown to Germany for emergency surgery. It doesn't look like he'll make it. He fantasizes about coming home to Belle and thanks Shawn for being there for his wife. Philip is rushed to the OR and it looks like it might be too late.
At the Alice's reunion party Sami is reunited with her parents, Roman and Marlena. Roman asks Sami how she got mixed up with Tony DiMera. Sami has to cover. Will arrives and Sami and Lucas embrace their son. Will asks if Dad trusts Mom again and Lucas decides to give Sami the benefit of the doubt but tells her from here on out, she has to always tell him the truth.
Roman and Kate are reunited with their children. Rex is blown away when he realizes his father is still alive. Roman surprises Rex with his twin sister Cassie. After an emotional reunion Rex invites Cassie to his wedding. This is turning out to be the best day of Rex's life but guilty Mimi can't bring herself to give him the bad news that she is going to jail on their wedding day.
Bo and Hope reunite with Shawn. They are grateful their son is okay but they worry about Philip and what his injuries will mean to Shawn's future with Belle. Bo and Roman wonder if Victor and Caroline could still be alive. They won't get answers until they can capture and question Tony. Grandpa Shawn is excited about the possibility of Caroline returning home to him. Bo whisks Hope away for a romantic surprise.
Brady grills Nicole about Chloe. Does Nicole know where she is? Nicole desperately tries to cover. John arrives and thinks Brady may be on to something and continues to warn him not to trust Nicole.
Marlena tries to convince Chloe to show herself to Brady but she is still deeply torn. Marlena then tells Nicole she made a mistake not telling Brady the truth when she had the chance. Nicole contemplates the worst night of her life as Brady seems to reject her and she learns Victor may be alive.
Victor and Caroline are being held prisoner on a remote DiMera island. Even though they're in the lap of luxury they may never be able to escape. Victor is resigned to his fate but as long as he's with Caroline, he can get through anything. Caroline wants to get back to her family but knows deep down Victor must feel the same way about Brady and Philip.
Philip is on the operating table and it is not going well. He fantasizes about reuniting with Belle and then leaving her to move on to the next life.
The Marine chaplain arrives to give Belle news about Philip. Belle is relieved to hear Philip is still alive but in surgery. John tells Shawn to leave Belle alone but Belle asks him to pray with her. When he does, Kate tells Shawn that Belle may decide to stay with Philip when he comes home. The doctor calls Belle on her cell and from her anguished cry, we know the news can't be good.
Sami agrees to be honest with Lucas yet is secretly planning never to tell him the truth about Stan. Sami is hopeful Tony is gone for good but her phone rings ... it's him! Tony wants to expose her to everyone.
John confides in Roman, he thinks he knows who can lead them to DiMera...
Mimi keeps trying to cover with Rex; he can't wait to marry her and start their future together. Finally, emotional Mimi can't take it anymore and she blurts out that she can't marry him.
Nicole warns Marlena they have to keep lying to Brady if that's what Chloe wants. Chloe decides she has to face Brady. Brady is with Marlena trying to figure out if he is a victim of a mind game or could Chloe still be alive? Marlena sees Chloe out on the terrace over Brady's shoulder and tells Brady to go out for some fresh air and he'll have the answer he needs.
Bo surprises Hope with a romantic picnic at the lake. Now that Shawn is home safely, Bo promises Hope they will have the happy future they've always dreamed about. Bo vows he will not let Billie come between them. Hope asks if, on some level, Bo may have known he was making love with Billie. Bo promises Hope is the only woman for him. He wants to prove it to her so they make passionate love and we see they are closer than ever.
Bo and Hope are still sitting on the blanket talking. Hope is optimistic about things going back to normal but Bo is not that sure. Bo explains that he is concerned with Billie's involvement with Chelsea but Hope tries to make Bo feel better about it and tells him to look on the bright side. Bo mentions that he is also worried about Shawn and his situation with Belle and they argue over Shawn's motives for rescuing Philip.
Nicole continues to try to change Chloe's mind about telling Brady that she is alive but Chloe wants to tell him the truth. Chloe asks Nicole to go and tell Brady that she is out on the terrace waiting for him but Nicole asks her if she is sure and tries to manipulate her and eventually Chloe caves.
Brady talks to Marlena about Chloe and tells her that he does not understand why Chloe would not come to him if she were alive. Marlena does not have any answers for him but spots Chloe out on the terrace with Nicole. Marlena tells Brady to go out on the terrace and get some fresh air and clear his head. Brady goes out on the terrace and is surprised to see Nicole. He tells her that he needs some answers from her as Chloe is looking on from the bushes. Chloe wants to see how Brady acts first and to wait until the right time to let him know she is alive. Brady questions Nicole but she tells him that she has nothing to say but except for "he's right." She tells Brady that Chloe is alive in his heart and Brady becomes irritated with her but Nicole continues on claiming that Brady is in love with a ghost. Brady tells Nicole that he does not trust her and that he thinks that she would give anything to keep him from finding Chloe. Nicole lies to Brady and says that the voice that Brady heard is probably a ploy from Tony.
John and Roman discuss how they will find Caroline and Victor if they are alive. John says that they have to find Tony and suggests that Sami would be the key to finding him. Roman is confused why John would suspect Sami and questions John. John states that he has not heard an explanation as to why Sami was in the war zone or how long she was there with Tony. Roman looks a little defensive as he asks John if he is suggesting that Sami is working with Tony. Roman refuses to believe that Sami would get involved with Tony and asks John why she would. John reminds Roman of Sami acting out when he was gone and that she probably wanted revenge. Roman and John argue over Sami and her involvement and Marlena and Lucas join the discussion when they hear the mens' loud voices. Lucas defends Sami and says that she saved them and the real villain is Stan. John calls Shane at the ISA to find out what's going on with Philip and does not learn anything new.
Sami is on her cell phone with Tony and pleads with him not to tell everyone that she is Stan and what she did. Tony threatens to tell Lucas and a worried Sami asks what Tony wants. Tony refers to Sami as "Stan" and tells her that he wants her to continue the operation. Sami says that she did her part but Tony tells her that she ruined his plans and that their relationship is far from over. He threatens to expose her if she does not agree to work with him.
Shawn tells Belle he knows that they can't be together until Philip comes home safely. Kate over hears and verbally attacks Shawn telling him to leave Philip's wife alone. In the meantime Belle's cell phone rings and it is the surgeon who operated on Philip. Belle bursts into tears because before he can tell her how Philip is doing Dr. Gage is called back into ICU and has to get off the phone. Belle thinks the worst and Shawn comforts her as Kate looks on. Kate yells at Shawn and tells him to give up the act that he cares about Philip. Shawn yells and argues with Kate over his motives but both end up upsetting Belle in the process. Lucas takes Shawn aside to ask him to leave Belle alone to keep from aggravating Kate and putting Belle in the middle. Belle tells her parents that she will stay with Philip no matter how long it takes to help him get better. A little later, she gets another call on her cell phone and cries out "Oh God No!" and almost collapses in Shawn's arms.
Chloe watches Brady from the bushes and resists going to him to keep from being a burden to him. She decides that if Nicole cannot convince Brady that she is dead then she will have no choice but to reveal herself.
Nicole excuse to Brady on hearing Chloe's voice is that it is manipulation of Tony's but Brady does not buy it and asks Nicole how she thinks Tony set it up. Nicole continues to make up lies. Brady admits that he would leave Nicole for Chloe. Nicole leaves Brady out on the terrace alone and she gets a call from Tony, who says that he knows what she has done!
Tony threatens Sami but tells her he might not go after her directly but perhaps go after her parents or Lucas. Sami tells him to stay away from her family but Tony tells her that this time she is going to go down for what she has done.
Bo and Hope are still cozy up on their blanket. They discuss Philip and how he probably can't wait to come home to Belle. Bo states that Shawn should be prepared to live his life without Belle despite the fact that they love each other. Bo continues on that it would be wrong of Shawn to break up Belle and Philip's marriage. They start to argue about Shawn being with Belle and Hope thinks that they should be together. Bo is convinced that Belle needs to stay true to her vows and give examples of people who love each other and can't be together. Hope adds the example of Bo and Billie. Hope and Bo continue to disagree and Hope asks Bo if he wants to see Shawn with the woman that he loves and Bo asks her "no matter who gets hurt?" but Hope does not answer. Bo tells Hope that she is encouraging Shawn to break up Belle and Philip's marriage but Hope says that she is encouraging him to be happy. Billie again is brought up as an example of Hope's flawed thinking and Bo and Hope disagree but finally decide that it is Belle's choice and to stay out of it.
Shawn tries to find Belle but is stopped by Kate who yells at him. Roman pulls Kate aside and offers her support but still she is very concerned about her son. Shawn sees Marlena and John dancing and asks why they are not with Belle and they explain that they gave her a ride home to the loft and that she wanted to be alone. They tell Shawn to leave Belle alone. John threatens that if Shawn goes after his daughter then he'll stop him. John eventually, is able to get three seats on a military transport and it is decided that Kate, Belle and John will go. Roman asks John to take good care of Kate for him and John asks Roman to do the same for him.
Rex is concerned that Mimi told him that she couldn't marry him and looks for her. Rex tells Lucas about what happened with Mimi and wonders if she heard the news on Philip and Rex asks about the news. Lucas has to break the news to him that Philip's left leg had to be amputated below the knee. Lucas and Rex blame Stan for what happened to Philip. Lucas goes and looks for Sami and finds her in a back room alone talking on her cell phone and asks her who she's taking to and what she is doing there. Sami plays it off like she was on the phone with Will and was telling him goodnight.
Both Belle and Mimi are at the loft are in tears over their predicaments. Seeing Belle in tears Mimi fears the worst but Belle tell her that Philip survived the surgery but they had to amputate his leg. Belle asks Mimi to help her pack because Philip needs her and she is going to be by his side. John tries to arrange for his Jet to take Belle to Philip but it is down for maintenance and looks to other options. Shawn approaches Marlena and says that maybe Belle should not go and maybe seeing Philip like this would make her more upset but Kate interrupts and questions his motives. Roman tells Shawn to put his feeling aside to leave Belle alone. Roman has a heart to heart with Shawn about the possibility of Belle staying with Philip. Rex and Shawn go back to the loft to wait for Mimi and Shawn goes to Belle's loft and knocks on the door and Belle answers and tells him that he shouldn't be there. Shawn expresses to Belle that he is not letting her go. Mimi finally goes back to her loft and meets with Rex who wants to know what's going on with her and why she said that she couldn't marry him. Shawn offers Belle support and they embrace one last time before she goes and Kate sees.
On the phone, Tony tells Nicole that Stan works for him and that he is at the party. He also tells her that the reason that she does not see Stan is that Stan is not in his disguise. Tony is happy at the thought of the problems that will result from both Nicole and Sami having dirt on each other. Nicole recognizes Stan's eyes and realizes Sami is Stan.
