Nikolas Recast as Christopher Undergoes Surgery

Tyler Chistopher (Nikolas Cassadine) is recuperating from surgery to repair a broken arm. The actor underwent surgery on his left arm on November 8th and was released from the hospital on November 10th. The injury required ABC to quickly scramble to recast the role of Nikolas while Christopher was in the hospital.

"We have recast the role until he gets better," a General Hospital spokesperson tells soapcentral.com. "Tyler will be off the show at least a week. We all hope he will be back as soon as possible."

Taking over the role of Nikolas for a period of "approximately one week" is former As the World Turns star Chris Beetem. Beetem played the role of Jordan Sinclair on the CBS soap from March 2004 through January 2005. His role was phased out for storyline reasons. Beetem was also seen on the primetime series JAG.

Beetem will first air Dcember 6th and continue with the show for about a week.
