Y&R's Lexie Stevenson on the "illegal" thing she wears on set

Lexie Stevenson (Mattie Ashby) opens up about accidentally breaking the rules at The Young and the Restless and how it worked in her favor.

The Young and the Restless' Lexie Stevenson (Mattie Ashby) is one of the sweetest actresses in daytime, so the thought of her doing anything against the rules is practically unheard of. That being said, she accidentally snuck a couple of rings into her very first scenes on the CBS soap opera without realizing she was technically breaking the rules. After all, actors who are married in real life have to take off their wedding rings while in character -- but Stevenson didn't realize the wardrobe issue and now she gets to wear both a ring her mother gave her and a ring her boyfriend, Brad, gave her every day.

"I got really lucky, because I guess I kind of snuck them in there on accident," she says with a laugh. "I actually didn't realize anything about continuity at first, so in the first episode, I kind of just wore them. I never said anything about my rings and no one has ever said anything about them, so I've just always worn them."

And the actress considers herself extremely fortunate, because the two pieces of jewelry she wears are incredibly special to her.

"Whenever I take off my mom's ring, I get really, really nervous. I swear I think it holds all my luck, and it's a constant reminder that she's with me," she shares. "My boyfriend's ring is the same thing. My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost three years, so it's really wonderful. If I'm ever nervous on set, I always look at my rings and know that my mom and my boyfriend are with me in spirit, and it's very comforting for me. And it may even add to my acting, because it makes me feel more comfortable in every situation that I'm in."

What do you think about Stevenson's rings bringing her a sense of calm? Do you have a special charm or piece of jewelry that you wear every day?
