Spider-Man: Brand New Day has just added another actor to its growing cast, Melanie Scrofano. For those who don't know, Scrofano is known for her roles in Ready or Not and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. In Strange New Worlds, the actress plays the role of Captain Marie Batel. Now, it seems that Scrofano has joined the MCU, but for now, her role remains undisclosed.

Her inclusion in the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day means that there's another actor whose character fans are going to theorize on continuously. Currently, the movie is being filmed in Glasgow, and many expect that several other actors are going to join Brand New Day shortly. Scrofano's mysterious role will be a debated topic of discussion, much like those of Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day got the permit to extend production in Glasgow

Initially, it was reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day was supposed to film in Glasgow until August 15, 2025. However, the BBC published a report this week revealing that production on the movie in Glasgow has been extended to August 26, 2025. This extension has some wondering if the movie will cast several new actors in the coming weeks as well.

After Brand New Day concludes filming in the last week of this month, the crew will supposedly continue production at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, in the United Kingdom. Some of the most exciting elements of the movie are the involvement of Hulk and Frank Castle/The Punisher. Moreover, rumors have been suggesting for a while that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see the return of the angry, savage Hulk.

But as of now, we don't have details of the movie except for the MCU characters involved in it. But it is also hinted that Brand New Day will be darker than the previous movie.

Kevin Feige had interesting teases for the movie in a press conference

As mentioned before, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be darker, as Peter Parker is probably in a darker place. No Way Home ended with people forgetting Peter's secret, resulting in him losing every relationship he ever had. While the choice feels noble in the heat of the moment, Peter has had to face the consequences of that choice. It is in this dark moment; it remains to be seen how The Punisher influences Spider-Man.

Feige teased the tone of Brand New Day like this:

“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”

Speaking about Frank Castle, the Marvel boss continued:

“So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover... I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”

What do you think is Melanie Scrofano's role in the movie? Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
