Sixteen years after their last Wembley performance, Oasis returned to the iconic stadium with a powerful nod to a fellow British music legend: Ozzy Osbourne.

As the final chords of “Live Forever” echoed through a packed crowd of nearly 90,000, a large image of the late Black Sabbath frontman filled the stage screen. The audience erupted in both cheers and applause, and some flying pints, all colliding in one shared moment.

Liam Gallagher followed the display with a short, heartfelt dedication:

“I want to dedicate this next song to Ozzy Osbourne.”

The unmistakable opening of “Rock and Roll Star” followed, the lyrics taking on new meaning in light of the tribute.

Noel and Liam Gallagher stood hand in hand during the moment, a rare sight from the famously turbulent brothers, as thousands of fans teared up, many visibly moved by the heartfelt gesture.

The Prince of Darkness bids farewell: Ozzy Osbourne passes away at 76

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, Tuesday, after his over 20-year-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 76.

Just weeks before his death, he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for a farewell performance at Villa Park, just miles from where the legendary band was formed in 1968.

Fans have since gathered in Birmingham to pay their respects, leaving flowers and lighting candles on Black Sabbath Bridge. Tributes from across the music world have poured in, with messages from Yungblud, Gene Simmons, Brian May, and Osbourne’s longtime bandmates Terence “Geezer” Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward.

A towering figure in rock and metal history, Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times; first with Black Sabbath in 2006, and again as a solo artist in 2023.

His cultural legacy extended well beyond music, thanks in part to MTV’s The Osbournes, which offered a chaotic, endearing look at life inside the Osbourne family.

Friends close to Sharon Osbourne have also expressed deep concern for her following the death of her husband of nearly four decades, calling Ozzy her “soulmate.” An insider reported:

"Sharon is very, very fragile. She is so thin. She is not well."

The source added:

"We are all terrified for her health at this point. The whole point of her life was him."

Meanwhile, it was Oasis’ opening night of a seven-show run at Wembley this summer, and the Gallagher brothers made sure that Ozzy Osbourne’s spirit lived on. As Oasis tore into “Rock and Roll Star,” it was a fitting sendoff for a legend.
