Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 hasn't begun filming yet, but showrunner Clyde Phillips's recent comments have fans hyped up for the upcoming season. By the time Resurrection's second season begins to stream on Paramount+, the Dexter franchise will turn two decades old, as the original series premiered in 2006. Many believed that the series had gone out with a whimper with the eighth season.

However, Showtime bought back the series in 2021 with Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Resurrection this year. Of these, Resurrection struck a chord with long-time fans of the franchise who had been waiting for a good project in the franchise for nearly a decade. But fans missed something in both New Blood and Resurrection: the iconic introduction that showed Dexter's morning routine.

However, it seems that Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will be bringing back the morning routine. Clyde Phillips confirmed this in a recent interview with the Love It Film podcast while discussing the beloved intro:

“Don’t be surprised if you see it again next year.”

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2: The iconic introduction explained:

The iconic intro saw Dexter amidst his morning routine. As he shaves and prepares the eggs, the scenes compare these normal activities with Dexter's dark deeds. The scenes and the music continue to stick with in the mind of the fans to this day despite not playing either New Blood or Dexter: Resurrection. This is something fans missed for both spin-offs.

However, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is supposedly bringing back the morning routine intro. As of now, we don't know much about the second season, but it does have a 2026 release date.

Apart from that, we don't know much about Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. But we know that the season 1 finale set up one of the antagonists of the upcoming season: The New York Ripper. We don't know much about the Resurrection Season 2 intro, but we can be sure that the intro will be different.

"Dexter Morgan awakens from a coma and sets out for NYC to find Harrison."

Dexter: Original Sin's intro may hint that the Resurrection Season 2 intro will be different:

It must be noted that the original Dexter series intro will turn 20 soon. Therefore, it is clear that the intro to Resurrection Season 2 will be shot anew. Moreover, Resurrection is set in New York, and therefore, the intro needs to be modified to meet the changing times.

The prequel series Dexter: Original Sin already gave fans a modified version of the original series early this year. The Original Sin intro sees the Morgan family (including Dexter) going through their morning routine to the iconic music. But in Michael C. Hall's place, we see Patrick Gibson. The official synopsis for Original Sin reads:

“Set in 1991 Miami, ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements’ radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 does not have a release date yet. Until then, binge the entire first season on Paramount+.
