Peacemaker Season 2 is finally here, and fans are combing through the 44-minute episode for easter-eggs and references. The episode recap opens with a retcon that shows how it fits into the newly built DCU. But there is a small appearance that all of us missed. And this appearance is that of the showrunner of both seasons, James Gunn.

If you are scouring through the episode to catch a glimpse of James Gunn, stop doing that, as he doesn't appear in a human form. Rather, the filmmaker provided motion-capture (mocap) for a character. The said character is that of Christopher Smith's pet eagle, Eagly. But, Gunn did not provide mocap throughout the entirety of Peacemaker Season 2. He did that for a small portion.

James Gunn provided the mocap for Eagly for the Peacemaker Season 2 intro:

On Friday, August 22, 2025, James Gunn revealed through his Threads account that he was the one who provided the mocap performance for the new introduction for the second season. For those who don't know, the new opening uses the song Oh Lord, by the band Foxy Shazam. All characters from the second season dance to the beats of the song.

In this song, we see Eagly attempting to dance for a bit throughout the intro. In the May 2025 Entertainment Weekly interview, James Gunn revealed that Eagly would attempt some dance moves in the new intro:

"I'll give you an exclusive: You get to see Eagly try to dance for the first time. So that's really something. He is not the best at it, but he tries to really join in the dance sequence at the end. He's got a little pose this time."

While Gunn did not mention that he was the one who provided the mocap performance for the Peacemaker Season 2 intro, this clarification had fans looking for Gunn's dance moves.

James Gunn recently addressed the Peacemaker Season 2 intro:

Wig Wam's Do Ya Wanna Taste It, which was used in the opening of Peacemaker Season 1, is regarded as iconic to this day. However, during the February 2025 press event, James Gunn revealed that the second season would not use the Wig Wam song. At that point, he did not reveal that Foxy Shazam's Oh Lord will be used for the intro.

Gunn sat down for an interview with GamesRadar+ this week, in which he revealed that the only thing that worried him was the reception to the new intro:

"It was the only thing I was really nervous about. People say, 'How are you going to one-up the first season?' You can't one-up the first season because, truth is, people didn't know a dance scene was coming. You can never recapture that. I have to recapture that within the episodes themselves. And I think the way we capture that… is with the emotional depth of the season, and the romance and all of that."

Were you shocked to learn that James Gunn gave the mocap performance for Eagly in the new Peacemaker Season 2 intro? Let us know.
