It seems that Vision Quest actor Paul Bettany has revealed the time difference between his solo series and the 2021 Marvel series WandaVision. We already know that the Vision solo series has been described as a continuation of what Marvel has dubbed the "WandaVision Trilogy". Bettany, who plays Vision in the MCU, attended the NYCC to promote the series.

There, we learned a lot about the upcoming Marvel series, which is scheduled to release next year. We also learned there will be a time jump between the WandaVision finale, where the "White Vision" got his memories and flew away, and the beginning of Vision Quest. The said time jump is a year.

Explaining Paul Bettany's Vision Quest comments:

Rotten Tomatoes caught up to Paul Bettany at NYCC and asked him several questions regarding the solo Vision series. One of those questions concerns the time period in which this series takes place. To this, the actor responded that Vision Quest takes place a year after WandaVision. Bettany's exact words were:

"You pick up Vision's story, he is... Its about a year or so later. And White Vision, you will remember, was given all of Red Vision's memories, including the memories from within the Hex. And he is struggling to feel them, to connect with the memories. I think, you know, he understands them intellectually, but he's wanting to, feel those memories. And that is sort of part of the journey of the show."

Thus, based on the actor's comments, it appears that WandaVision and the Vision series are set a year apart. However, some fans have a question regarding Bettany's comments.

How does Ruaridh Mollica's character factor into the series?

25-year-old Ruaridh Mollica is playing the role of Thomas Shepherd in the series. For the uninitiated, Thomas Shepherd is the new name of Wanda Maximoff and Vision's other kid, Tommy Maximoff, who is Billy's twin brother. We even saw Tommy's origin in the finale of Agatha All Along last year. More importantly, Agatha All Along is set three years after WandaVision. This has fans confused regarding Vision Quest's place in the so-called "WandaVision Trilogy".

However, there is an explanation for this. One explanation is that the series will start a year after the WandaVision finale, and then jump forward after Agatha All Along. And, the other explanation is that the Vision solo series takes place before Agatha All Along, and as for Thomas Shepherd's role, we may see him pass away and return from death as Tommy Maximoff/Speed, like we did in the Agatha All Along finale.

What do we know about the series?

Details about the upcoming Marvel show are scarce, as it is still a year away. We just know for now that the series will follow Vision trying to learn more about himself as he tries to outgrow S.W.O.R.D.'s programming. Showrunner Terry Matalas spoke about the Vision series in the Katee Sackhoff podcast in May this year:

"The timeline is definitely navigated. At the end of WandaVision, the original Vision was rebuilt and weaponized, and then had a moment of discovery and acceptance of who he was. Then [he] flew off. [Vision Quest] is following that character, and that character’s journey."

It was confirmed at the NYCC panel that the Vision series will begin streaming sometime in 2026. It remains to be seen if it will stream before Avengers: Doomsday or close to it.
