Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 3 recap: Escaping Andromeda

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Episode 3, "We Board the Princess Andromeda", is shorter than the first two episodes. The 37-minute-long episode revealed the nature of the Great Prophecy, which is an important foundation of the first five books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. It picks up right where Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Episode 2 ended.

Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth are sailing on the motorboat towards the mysterious cruise ship. The episode reveals the name of the ship: Princess Andromeda. Much like the Lotus Casino and Hotel in the first season, there is more to this ship under its cruise facade.

"Aboard a cruise ship, our heroes struggle to differentiate friend from foe."

Clarisse La Rue begins her mission

The third episode opens with Clarisse visiting the Oracle to receive her prophecy for the quest. After hearing it, she begins her quest alone and visits Thalia's Tree. There, she surprisingly comes across Ares, who provides her with a sunken submarine and crew consisting of fallen soldiers to assist her in the quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece.

Annabeth, Tyson, and Percy board the cruise ship in the first act of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Episode 3. The cruise looks like every other luxury cruise ship on the surface level, but Tyson smells something bad. Meanwhile, Percy tells Annabeth he doesn't want to know about what Chiron told her and figures out that it has something to do with his future, which she confirms.

He tells her to use the word "Boon" if he is taking an action that's going against what's prophesied. That's when Tyson informs them that he was smelling monsters throughout.

Alison Simms returns

Apollo's daughter, Alison Simms, returns from Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 1. She reintroduces herself to Annabeth and Percy, initially acting as if she were just roaming the world. Annabeth informs her about the monsters' presence, but Percy soon reveals her treachery, and the three fight.

Percy and Annabeth manage to win this fight as Alison accidentally falls into the sea while trying to attack Annabeth. The two run to the room to decide their plan ahead. Percy wants to kill Luke, but Annabeth uses Boon, informing him that he is veering close to going against the prophecy. Annabeth suggests subduing Luke and taking him away from Kronos to Camp Half-Blood.

Percy agrees on this plan, and the three (including Tyson) decide to execute the plan to "save" Luke. However, before they can break into Luke's quarters, Alison walks in and gives them away.

Kronos

Luke takes Percy and Annabeth to his quarters, where we catch a glimpse of a mysterious sarcophagus. Inside this sarcophagus is Kronos, the lord of Titans, Zeus's father, and Luke's master. We learn that Luke wants the Golden Fleece to heal Kronos faster. Luke and Annabeth talk about the Great Prophecy, which Percy doesn't know.

Luke takes the two to an area in which demigods are training and monsters are there, but not attacking them. Luke reveals that Kronos's world would not persecute monsters, and we see the Laestrygonians being nice to Tyson and helping him create something.

Tyson helps them escape

The device Tyson created is a bomb, and it explodes. This diversion helps them escape. They take a lifeboat from the Princess Andromeda, and in that voyage, Percy finally learns what the prophecy is about. Annabeth herself doesn't know the prophecy, but gives him the gist. A 16-year-old demi-god, who is the child of one of the big three (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades), will decide the fate of the Olympians.

Clarisse and her crew

Clarisse has troubles with her crew throughout the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 episode. They don't respect her despite her best efforts. However, the closing minutes of the episode are when she convinces the crew that the dead crew have a chance at redemption. These damned souls, realizing this, pledge their allegiance to helping Clarisse in this quest.
