“We’re back by popular demand”: Krysten Ritter is excited to come back as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Actress Krysten Ritter hyped up Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 again at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend. It must be noted that Ritter has been a part of not only one but two revivals this year. Firstly, she is playing Mia Lapierre in Dexter: Resurrection, and then in May this year, we learned that the actress will be reprising her role of the alcoholic Private Investigator (PI) Jessica Jones in the MCU.

She is doing so in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. But as of now, we don't know the details regarding her role in Born Again Season 2 or Ritter's role in it. But this week, Krysten Ritter did hype up the second season at the Comic-Con in the Dexter: Resurrection panel. When ScreenRant journalist Ash Crossan asked the actress her feelings about returning as Jessica Jones in the MCU, she responded:

"It's really exciting. The fans have been so vocal, and we're back by popular demand, and it's really exciting and probably how these guys feel like putting those boots on again--it was as if no time had passed. A character that you play for so long really gets into the cells of your body, and it's fun to then find ways to go deeper. It's kind of like riding a bicycle, and I'm so excited. I think what we're doing is really cool, and she's an iconic character that I adore and love, and she means so much to me."

What do Krysten Ritter's comments mean?

Before her return was officially confirmed during the Disney panel at the Upfront event in May this year, the actress had publicly expressed hope for returning as Jessica Jones in the MCU. Sharing the stage with her Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 co-star Charlie Cox at the Upfront event, Krysten Ritter said something similar to what she said at Comic-Con:

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

Thus, in both of these instances, Ritter has expressed nothing but gratitude for returning to the MCU. The actress, like everyone else, is a fan of the character. Her public statements have expressed her happiness in returning as Jessica in the MCU. Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones return has many fans believing that the other two Defenders, i.e., Luke Cage and Danny Rand, might also return soon.

Ritter's comments from July 9, 2025, have many believing that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 might be a mini The Defenders reunion.

What did Krysten Ritter say?

Ritter sat down for an interview with ScreenRant's reporter and host Liam Crowley to promote Dexter: Resurrection. The conversation then shifted to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and what fans could expect from it. Teasing the tone of the series, Krysten Ritter said:

"Oh, it's gritty. It feels big too. The crew's amazing. I've had an amazing experience. I can't say anything, but I love being with Charlie [Cox]. It was as if no time had passed. Like, my first day, I was looking around like we're back. But juxtaposing it with Mia [her Dexter Resurrection character] and Jessica has been really creatively fulfilling for me as an artist and just what a big, big banner year I'm having. I think the fans are going to be very, very thrilled. We're doing some cool stuff."

These comments have led many to believe that Mike Colter and Finn Jones might return as their MCU characters soon.
