At Kelly's, Maxie goes upstairs to see Coop. She starts screaming when she sees him hanging from the ceiling. Mike, Logan, Lulu, and Jason rush upstairs. Jason surveys the scene while the others go downstairs to call 911. Jason notices an open window. He goes downstairs and questions a distraught Maxie. Mac and his detectives arrive. Maxie tells them the same thing that she told Jason. She and Coop were planning to go away to Canada for a few days. Mac elicits from Logan that he saw Coop after Maxie did. Logan tells Mac that he borrowed money from Coop. He does not disclose finding the DNA test results or his conversation with Coop, in which Coop denied being the "Text Message Killer," but indicated his suspicions of an unnamed "other." He tells Mac that when he left Kelly's, Coop was having coffee. The lurking dishwasher confirms his alibi. A search of the body reveals the missing DNA test results, which are a match for Coop. When the tread on Coop's boots also match those found near Georgie's body, Mac and his detectives conclude that Coop committed suicide because he was the "Test Message Killer." Maxie refuses to believe it, but Mac thinks it is her grief talking. After the police leave, Jason meets Spinelli outside Kelly's. Jason is skeptical because he got a call from Coop moments before his death. "What," he asks rhetorically, "Could a guy who is about to kill himself want to tell me?"
Liz is unhappy to find Sam with Jake when she goes to Lucky's home to pick up her son. Sam tries to make amends, but Liz does not trust her, and tells her to make plans to break up with Lucky. Liz threatens to tell Lucky that Sam stood by while Jake was kidnapped and that she hired men to threaten Liz and her children. Sam pleads with Liz and says that she is falling in love with Lucky. A noticeably weak and limping Liz shows her the door as she says that Sam is incapable of love and that she does not deserve a good man like Lucky. Before she finishes her diatribe, Liz notices that her leg is bleeding and nearly passes out. Sam is helping her to the couch when Lucky arrives. Liz says that she is fine and just wants to go home. Kate finds Sonny in his office at the coffee house. She says that she has been worried about him. He tells Kate that he is okay because he is over her. He lambastes her for rejecting him. She responds that she loves him, but figured out that he did not love her. Sonny is incredulous. Kate says that when he recreated their youthful memories, and then proposed, she realized that he loves Connie Falconeri, not Kate Howard. She tells him that she loves the lost boy he was, as well as the man he's become, despite the violence that accompanies his life. He defends himself, but it becomes apparent that he does not care for Kate Howard's life, because he does not believe that Kate is capable of loving anything except her career. Kate admits that she still loves Sonny and asks how they will get past the hurt. Sonny says that they can make sure that history does not repeat itself a third time, or they can pretend that she never came to his office in the storm, or he can pretend that he never knew her. Kate says she cannot do that. Sonny retorts he does not want to either, but he will have to do so. He clears his throat and says, "Doesn't Couture magazine have a deadline you need to go to?" A stunned Kate walks out, leaving a cold-hearted Sonny alone.

When he checks, Michael sees that the gun is not loaded. He wants bullets, but has no money to buy them. The boys snicker and tell him to come back when he has the cash. After the press conference, the mayor comes over and congratulates Alexis on a job well done. Jerry overhears this and also offers his praise. Johnny is not the enemy, Trevor and Moreau are, he explains. Sonny remains vitriolic and unconvinced. He demands that Jason kill Johnny. Jason responds that maybe Sonny should be paying less attention to Johnny and more to Michael, who Jason caught taking the gun from Sonny's bottom desk drawer. Sonny is defensive and accuses Jason of using Michael as an excuse to justify keeping Jake's parentage secret. Jason gets Sonny back on track by telling him that his only concern is for Michael, who is too old to accept simple explanations. Jason urges Sonny to take some personal time. He knows that Kate turned down his proposal and so does Carly. Sonny is about to blow his top again when Kate stops in. Jason uses that as a reason to go elsewhere. Kate apologizes for hurting Sonny and running away. She was scared, but she does not want to give up on the relationship. Then, later, she hired men to pretend to threaten Liz. Lucky is stunned. He leaves the hospital and goes to the docks, where the same boy who sold a gun to Michael tries to sell drugs to Lucky. Lucky blows off steam and runs the boy away. He picks up a plastic bag filled with pills that the boy dropped during their struggle. As Lucky contemplates the pills, Jason appears on the stairs behind him. He watches as Lucky tosses the pills into the lake. Lucky notices Jason and bitterly inquires if Jason was wondering what Lucky would do with the pills, or wondering if Lucky could still be trusted with Jake. Lucky tells Jason, "You know I'd like to swear that I'd never take another pill, but that's a dangerous road for a recovering drug addict. But you could be with the person day in and day out, look them in the eye, into the heart, think you know them and be dead wrong." As he walks away, he looks Jason in the eye and says, "But I don't have to tell you that."

Luke promises to find Tracy and convince her to drop the lawsuit. Monica also tells him that he helped forge Alan's will. Luke doesn't deny what he did and offers to convince Tracy to compensate Monica for the money they stole. Monica tells him that giving her cash isn't what she wants, but that he and Tracy had not respected Alan's last wishes in his will.
Lulu shows up and welcomes him home with a hug. She is in the dark about why Monica is angry with Tracy and her father. Monica and Edward clue her in. Edward tells Lulu that she is welcome to stay there as long as she wants. Lulu tells them that if Luke goes, she will go also. Lulu and Luke talk alone about why he left town without telling anyone. Luke tells her he felt stifled being in the hospital and having everyone hover over him. Luke asks her where she intends to live. Lulu tells him she could go live with Nikolas or Logan, or the both of them could live with Lucky. Luke rejects that idea because he thinks they would cramp Lucky's style. Tracy enters the room and she looks angry. Lulu leaves them alone to talk.
Monica isn't too pleased to see Tracy return to her house and tries to kick her out again. Tracy informs her that she isn't leaving until she is allowed to leave with the pearls Lila gave to her in her will. Edward warns her to stay away from Lila's jewelry or anything else in the house that doesn't belong to her or he will have her arrested. Monica allows Tracy to stay for a little while but tells her to leave in five minutes or she will have her arrested for trespassing. Luke tries to convince Tracy to drop the lawsuit against Monica and then fix what they did to Alan's will. Tracy pretends to go along with his idea but then surprises him by knocking him over onto a nearby chair. Luke tries to make up with her but Tracy isn't interested. She takes her wedding rings off and drops them into his drink. She tells him to either divorce her or leave town and not come back for 7 years so she can declare him dead.
Liz wakes up to find Lucky sitting in a nearby chair watching her. She asks him what he is doing in her room. He explains that he was thinking about how many mistakes he has made lately with her and Sam. He apologizes to her for how he betrayed her when they were married. She tells him he doesn't need to apologize again. He tells her that he stopped by his house earlier and looked through the window. He saw Sam sitting at the table with candles all around the house. He tells Liz that he feels like everyone has kept things from him to protect him. Liz tells him that Sam admitted that she loved him. He tells her that makes it even worse.
Lucky leaves and heads back home. He finds Sam sleeping on the couch when he arrives. She wakes up when she hears him come in the door. He asks her why she lit up the house with candles and put wine on the table. Sam tells him that she decided she needed to tell him something she has been keeping from him. Lucky thinks she is going to come clean with him about the stunts she pulled to hurt Liz and Jason. Instead, Sam tells him that her feelings for him have nothing to do with getting back at Liz and Jason like she was originally trying to do. She tells him that she thinks they could make each other happy. Lucky kisses her but then says that he wishes he could believe, her but he can't. He pulls away and tells her that Liz told him the truth about how she watched Jake get kidnapped and did nothing to stop it, and how she hired men to scare Liz and the children in the park. Sam tries to explain herself to him but Lucky isn't interested. He tells her to get out of his house immediately and stay out of his life.
Carly shows Jax the newspaper headline about how Cooper Barrett was the "text-message killer" and how he committed suicide. She tells Jax that they should have listened to her on the night of the ball when she said she thought Cooper was the killer. She agrees with him that they need to talk to him and get things cleared up. Jax leaves the house to meet with the contractor. Carly decides to lock the door to the house after she kisses him goodbye.
Meanwhile, Jason shows up at his office to find Nikolas there waiting for him. Nikolas shows him the newspaper and asks Jason if he thinks Cooper Barrett was the killer. Jason doesn't give him an answer but explains that Alexis made a statement to the press, and the police had enough evidence pointing to Cooper. Nikolas tries to get more information from Jason but Max enters the office and tells Jason he needs to talk to him right away. Nikolas thinks he is in the way and plans to leave his office, but Jason asks him to stay and wait for him. Emily appears to Nikolas and suggests that they go over what happened that night and thinks they should act out what he said to her right before he blacked out and can't remember. Nikolas doesn't want to do it at first but she persuades him that it might trigger a memory for him that could be helpful. Nikolas and Emily reenact what happened and Nikolas seems to have remembered something. He yells at her like he did that night. Jason comes running over to him and asks him what is going on. Nikolas tells him that he was trying to go over in his head what happened that night but couldn't remember anything about who may have killed Emily. He doesn't think he could have hurt her or that she could have hurt him by hitting him but somehow his blood ended up on her dress and mask. He asks Jason if he is 100% sure that Cooper was the killer. Jason tells him that he isn't that sure. Nikolas asks Jason if he thinks Nikolas could have killed her. Jason tells Nikolas that he doesn't think Nikolas killed her either. Nikolas tells Jason that he can't actually place Cooper in the room that night, either, and thinks they have a problem if Cooper isn't the killer.
Meanwhile, Carly calls Michael downstairs to talk to him. She tells him all about how Cooper Barrett was the killer and that he doesn't have to worry about her safety anymore. Michael remains worried about her because there are still bad guys out there. Carly tells him that for now she is safe. Michael asks her if he can be excused so he can go back upstairs. Later, Jason goes over to Carly's house to tell her that his instincts tell him that Cooper isn't the killer. Michael is on the stairs and overhears them talking and becomes worried about his mother's safety. Nikolas goes to the hospital and checks up on Liz, who is sleeping in her room when he gets there. Emily appears to him outside of Liz's room. Nikolas wonders why he is checking up on Liz when she was Emily's best friend, not his. Emily points out to him that he cares about Liz, also. She suggests to him that he keep in contact with his family and not isolate himself all the time. Nikolas feels that she is the one he wants to see all the time and be with. Emily suggests that she give him a rest for a while so he can spend more time with his family. Nikolas touches her cheek and they walk off together. Nadine, the nurse, sees him and overhears him talking to "Emily."
Kate walks around Port Charles and looks at the brownstones that remind her of her childhood neighborhood. Damian, the new waiter at Kelly's, approaches her from behind and asks her to join him for some coffee after asking her if she is Kate Howard. He tells her that he would like her to join him so they can discuss business. She is a little nervous around him because it looked like he was following her. He explains to her that he is a photographer and takes pictures of women. He apologizes for bothering her when Jax starts walking toward them. He takes off. Jax recognizes the waiter and asks her if he was bothering her. She tells Jax that she was worried at first that the guy was stalking her. Jax asks her what she is doing in Port Charles since he thought she moved back to Manhattan. She tells him that she had a falling-out with Sonny and she hurt him bad. Jax reminds her that Sonny isn't one of his favorite people. Kate tells him that Sonny isn't the man Jax thinks he is and that she knows him well. Jax asks her what is wrong. She decides to confide in him since she thinks of him as a friend. She tells him she is really a fraud and that he would be surprised to find out where she came from. Jax is confused at first about what she is trying to tell him. She tells him that he is mistaken about her background and that she didn't grow up abroad. She makes him promise not to tell anyone, including Carly, what she is about to tell him.
Meanwhile, Sonny books himself into a hotel room somewhere outside of Port Charles. Max tells Jason where he is staying. Jason tells Max to make sure someone is watching out for Sonny to be certain no one follows him inside the hotel or the lounge when he is at his most vulnerable. Sonny meets a mysterious dark-haired woman at the bar when he orders a drink. He tells the bartender he will pay for whatever the "lady" is having. She buys him a drink after he buys her a drink. She writes a note on a napkin and has the bartender deliver it to Sonny. Sonny reads the message that says, "I'm not a lady." Sonny leaves the bar but comes back later and has the bartender hand her a message as well as a copy of his room key. The message says, "I'm not a gentleman." The woman talks on her cell phone to someone and says to have a car waiting for her out front. She goes to pay for her tab but the bartender tells her that Sonny took care of it for her. She shows up at Sonny's room. He tells her she is late and that he doesn't like to be kept waiting. The woman tells him she doesn't like a man to pay for things and puts a bill into his front pocket. Sonny grabs her and kisses her passionately after she tries to dismiss him. He grabs her and shuts his door.
Claudia comes out of the bathroom at the hotel. She's getting dressed to leave. Sonny asks her why she's leaving so soon. She tells him that it was just a night of passion and she doesn't need to stay any longer. They don't know each other's names and they don't need to. Sonny asks for a number in case he wants to get ahold of her again. She says they shouldn't be together. People like them ruin everything in their path.
Sam and Lucky continue to fight about Sam's role in Jake's kidnapping. Lucky says he suddenly understands why Liz was so upset to see Sam there with Jake. He realizes why Liz insists that Jason can't be a part of Jake's life, and he blames it all on Sam. He gets Sam her coat, tells her to leave, and says he hopes he never sees her again as long as he lives.
Sam stands on the docks and gets a text message. She realizes it is from the text message killer and immediately calls Lucky. She tries to explain that she got a text message, but he doesn't want to hear it. He says he's not interested in seeing some text message that she had a friend send to her. He's done with her. He hangs up when Lulu comes in. Sam gets another text message. It says, "I see you. Do you see me?" She starts to run off the docks, but she runs into the killer. They fight and Sam manages to get away. She runs to the nearest house, but no one is home. The text message killer comes after her again, but Sam manages to fight him off again. He rolls down the steps and lies motionless. Sam runs over to him and starts to take his mask off, but he wakes up, and she tries to escape again.
Lucky welcomes Lulu into the house. She says that she understands the text message killer thing is supposed to be over, but she's still too freaked out to stay at Wyndemere. She won't go back to the Quartermaine mansion right now, and she's definitely not going to be staying with Logan. She realizes that Lucky isn't listening. She asks him if it's about Sam, Liz, or Jake. He says it's all of the above. They talk about how their family isn't doing very well in the love department. Lulu says they had the perfect role models, too. Luke always loved Laura, and Laura always loved Luke. Lulu and Lucky continue to talk, and she tells him it sounds like he might want to get back together with Liz.
