Harlow To Drop To Recurring Status

by Dan J Kroll

Jade Harlow (Jessica Bennett) has opted not to renew her contract with Passions. Harlow will, however, remain with the show - on a recurring basis.

According to a show spokesperson, the role will not be recast because of Harlow's decision to remain on recurring status. Harlow assumed the role of Jessica in the Spring of 2000 after original cast member Mary Elizabeth Winstead asked to be released from her contract.

Harlow's decision not to renew is just the latest in a list of casting changes for the fledgling soap. Here is a breakdown of the major changes having taken place on Passions so far this year.

February 2002
Original cast member Travis Schuldt (ex Ethan Winthrop) announces that he will not renew his contract when it expires. The role of Ethan will be recast with Eric Martsolf.

May 2002
Bruce Michael Hall (Reese Durkee), an original cast member, opts to be downgraded to recurring status.

June 2002
Donn Swaby (Chad Harris) opts not to renew his contract. Former GQ model Charles Divins will assume the role.

June 2002
Natalie Zea (Gwen Hotchkiss) decides not to re-sign with Passions. Original Gwen, Liza Huber will return to the show in her original role.
