Shemar Moore just wrapped up a primetime stint and wouldn't mind a daytime return to The Young and the Restless.

Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters) is one of The Young and the Restless' most beloved and famous alums. He began bringing Malcolm Winters to life in 1994 and has played him on and off ever since, with his last appearance taking place in 2023.

Since departing Y&R as a regular, Moore has developed quite the primetime career, starring in such popular police procedurals as Criminal Minds and S.W.A.T. With the latter airing its final episodes this spring, Moore is ready for his next career chapter -- and that could include a Y&R comeback as Malcolm. However, that is up to the soap.

"If The Young and the Restless called me today, I would go," Moore told First for Women. "If Criminal Minds asked me to come back, I'd go. Because you never forget where you came from. It sounds cliche and maybe cheesy, but it's also true."

Moore's 2023 return was for the show's 50th anniversary last March. Malcolm paid a visit to Genoa City to honor his late brother, Neil, and open the Neil Winters Jazz Lounge at the GC Athletic Club. Before that, Moore made an appearance on Y&R in 2019 to say goodbye to Neil and the actor who played him, the late Kristoff St. John.

"I definitely did it for my dear brother, may he rest in peace," Moore said of his most recent times on Y&R. "Kristoff was such a supporter of mine. When I was scared or nervous, he just put his hand on my back, sat with me, instilled confidence in me, and told me to keep practicing, keep trying. He rooted for me to grow, and when I left Young and The Restless, he told me I could make it."

And make it Moore has, with a thriving career and now a thriving family. The 53-year-old actor lost his mom in 2020, but joy arrived when he became a father for the first time last year. Frankie Meleine was born in January of 2023, and Moore couldn't be happier.

"Losing my mother was very hard on me," Moore said. "She was my best friend, my mentor, my partner in crime. But she blessed me and didn't let me stay alone too long. Her spirit was a large part of me reconnecting with my girl, Jesiree, and having this beautiful angel, Frankie."
