AMC alum receives SAG Lifetime Achievement Award

All My Children alum Carol Burnett (ex-Verla Grubbs) was given the Screen Actor's Guild Lifetime Achievement Award over the weekend.

With a career that has spanned all the way from classic sitcoms to soap operas, legendary actress Carol Burnett (ex-Verla Grubbs) was given this year's Life Achievement Award at the annual Screen Actor's Guild award ceremony, held in Los Angeles this past Saturday night.

The comedian -- best known for her roles on The Carol Burnett Show, The Lucy Show, Mama's Family, Carol & Company, Mad About You, and Hot in Cleveland -- was visibly moved by the accolade, speaking at great length about her career beginnings and the various people she's been able to work with over the years.

Burnett first appeared in Pine Valley back in 1983 as the long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmonds). She later appeared in a 1984 scene with actress Elizabeth Taylor and also returned for the 25th anniversary of the show, the 35th anniversary of the show, and again in 2011 for scenes with Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) and Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt).

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, Burnett has half a dozen Emmys, several Golden Globes, a Mark Twain Prize for Humor, a Peabody, a Kennedy Center Honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. She has also received two Tony Award nominations.
