Anne Jacqueline Hathaway, better known as Anne Hathaway, is an American actress born on November 12, 1982. She has earned an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a British Academy Film Award. Hathaway was listed on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list in 2009, and her films have made over $6.8 billion globally. In 2015, she was one of the highest-paid actresses in the world.

Her first acting job was in the short-lived television drama Get Real (1999–2000). She then starred in the popular Disney comedy The Princess Diaries (2001) as Mia Thermopolis. As a result, she became a teenage idol, and later played the same part again in Royal Engagement, the sequel. Hathaway made her stage debut in New York the following year, performing in the Encores! production of Carnival! Following this came several family movies that failed at the box office, including Nicholas Nickleby (2002) and Ella Enchanted (2004).

She moved to more adult roles in 2005 when she starred in the critically acclaimed Brokeback Mountain. Hathaway played Jane Austen in the biographical movie Becoming Jane the next year after co-starring with Meryl Streep in the wildly successful comedy-drama The Devil Wears Prada in 2006.
