Natalie Hershlag, popularly known as Natalie Portman, is an Israeli-American actress and producer, born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem. At a young age, she attended the American Theater Dance Workshop and Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts to work on her craft. Portman made her film debut at the age of 12 in the action thriller Léon: The Professional in 1994. She made her Broadway debut with the play The Diary of a Young Girl in 1998.


Portman received international popularity for her role as Padmé Amidala in the film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 1999. She is best known for her work in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999-2005), Closer (2004), Black Swan (2010), No Strings Attached (2011), Jackie (2016), the Thor film series (2011-2022), etc. She has won many major awards for her work over the years, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and 2 Golden Globe Awards. According to E!, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal started dating in 2002. After going on a few dates, they ended their relationship. In 2006, they again made headlines after they were spotted together on a date in New York, but their relationship lasted for only a few months. After their breakup, they remained on good terms and also worked together in the psychological drama film Brothers in 2009.


In 2011, Gyllenhaal presented her with the Desert Palm Achievement Award and said, “She’s a vegan, which makes it really frustrating when you’re picking a place to eat. She is the Audrey Hepburn of our generation. She’s graceful, has amazing eyebrows, and is talented, really short, funny, smart, dedicated, incredibly kind, and Jewish!”

The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Aleph, in 2011 and later married in 2012. They gave birth to their 2nd child, a daughter named Amalia in 2017. According to Us, the couple got separated after 11 years of marriage in August 2023. Portman filed for divorce, which was finalized in March 2024.
