If there's one soap that still knows how to do family, friendship, and human connection right, it's General Hospital. The quiet New Year's Eve episode, in which characters essentially stayed home and avoided elaborate celebrations (which had been de rigueur in years past), was an absolute pleasure to watch, but we still knew a storm was brewing. It might not be here just yet, but hold onto your scoops, and let's dig in.
The calm: Love in the Afternoon arrives for New Year's Eve

GH went back to basics on Tuesday, when love in the afternoon was the name of the game. Between Jason and Britt, Molly and Cody, Emma and Gio, Jordan and Curtis, Kai and Trina, the kisses were coming.
We even got some potential love between Nathan and Lulu and...wait, what? Carly and Valentin? Yeah, we are still not sure what to make of that one, but we're kinda digging it in a weird little way. So, let's dig into what we are digging cause we're honestly a bit torn. We still love Vanna and want to see Valentin with his darling as soon as he discovers she's at Wyndemere, but lo and behold, Carly and Valentin have chemistry.
This is something we never would have expected early in 2025 when Valentin kinda-sorta poisoned Carly with polonium. We say kinda-sorta because he expected Jack to drink that champagne and not Carly. It was pretty cute (is that the right word?) when they even brought that incident up after Carly presented Valentin with two glasses and some champagne in his new attic home.
Their banter was perfect. The moment was perfect. Carly talks to Valentin like he is a parent, and Carly knows that criminals can love their kids, too. Nobody has more experience with this in Port Charles than Carly does, so maybe she will be the one who can finally accept Valentin as a whole. But then again, Anna is still at Wyndemere.
Carly's other General Hospital guy

Apparently, Jason planned to spend New Year's Eve in the Q kitchen by himself, drinking beer, but then Britt showed up, wanting him to take her out for the new year and her birthday. While we like JaBritt, the scenes were strange. First, Britt had never visited Jason at home before, and second, why was Jason in such a somber mood? Some of us realized that it had been 30 years since the accident that turned him from Jason Quartermaine to Jason Morgan. But Jason had never acknowledged that day before, nor does he even remember it. That was the whole point of this 30-year story.
The only thing that we learned from their episode-long conversation was that Britt liked spending time with Jason more than any other person in her life. (Does Brad know?) And they kissed. With fireworks. The end.
The boss's office

Poor Molly and Cody didn't even get a proper love scene for their first time hitting the sack (or the floor or couch in Justine's office, we're still not sure). He helped her write a legal brief. They danced. They kissed. They undressed each other and we assume did the deed in a place where they really shouldn't have been doing the deed and now we will remember that every time Justine confers with Dante in that very same office. And Cody finally got some lovin' for the first time since he parachuted into the Metro Court pool in 2022. Hooray!
But Molly and Cody are an official couple now, right? That's James' question. Molly says no. Cody says yes. So, which is it? Guess we'll find out on Monday...
Plus, Molly and Cody's night alone gave Emma and Gio their own alone time at the Q stables. We assume that Emma's coat was faux fur, or that would have really been one heck of an out-of-character wardrobe choice.
The Drillow storm that's coming...

Before the calm and quiet New Year's Eve, there was Boxing Day. And on Boxing Day, poor little Scout's dreams came true when Willow managed to talk that horrible man she is married to into letting Scout see her family. And that's where the trouble is coming from. Scout saw her big brother, and although she was told to tell nobody that Danny was there, she immediately told Willow.
Now, can Scout trust Willow? Perhaps. Or perhaps she can only trust one of the Willows, as we are still convinced there are multiple Willows running around in her head. If one of those Willows realizes that telling Drew the truth is to her advantage, then you know Willow will do it. Willow is always looking out for number one. Or at least the version we have seen over the last year sure does.
Between potential extortion charges, pressure from Jenz Sidwell to remain in office, and anger at not getting his way with Scout and Danny, Drew is the storm that is ready to rage down on Port Charles.
The Michael storm that's coming

And then there is Michael. He is now in Alexis' crosshairs and doesn't even realize to what extent. But he is as much of a loose cannon as Willow and Drew at the moment, which can't be a good thing.
Sonny tried to reason with him, but Michael didn't care. He claims he is going to destroy Willow on the stand, for the sake of his kids. But it really feels like he is going to destroy Willow for the sake of destroying Willow. While we can't really blame him, Sonny might have a good point that he'd be doing this to the mother of his children, which won't be a good look in a few years.
Plus, did Michael actually do it? He's given every single indication that he has, including hiring a false alibi, but that would be way too simple, right? Kai and Trina are going to figure out who shot Drew this coming week, so we're about to find out.
The Sidwell storm that's coming

Sidwell is after Ace. Laura knows that Sidwell is after Ace. And that may not end well for Sidwell. Don't mess with a Cassadine, and certainly do NOT mess with Laura's children or grandchildren. We honestly don't think Sidwell knows who he is dealing with...
Till next week, Scoopers, when the new soap year truly begins, and the storm clouds come rolling on in...
