Brandon Buddy's planned return to One Life to Live has been scrapped, according to a published report. The actor taped an episode, but was unable to continue, and the show has been forced to recast the role.

As One Life to Live's time on ABC winds down, the show has been attempting to honor the show's past by bringing back fan-favorite performers for one last hurrah. Unfortunately, one actor's unexpected unavailability and the need for an emergency recast may throw a wrench into those plans.

Daytime Confidential is reporting that Brandon Buddy's (Cole Thornart) planned reprisal of Cole has been shelved because the actor was unable to continue filming his scenes. It is not known what forced Buddy out, especially since the actor had taped one day's worth of scenes. Those scenes will not make it to air, and ABC has been forced to recast the role.

Though ABC has not yet confirmed the news, Soap Central has learned that Van Hughes will assume the role of Cole. Hughes previously appeared in minor roles on As the World Turns and One Life to Live.

ABC is "just sick" about having to recast, a show source told Daytime Confidential. It is unclear if the show will tweak the storyline now that Buddy is no longer available.

Buddy exited One Life to Live in November 2010 amid a Twitter scandal in which someone reportedly hacked into Buddy's account and announced that he'd be exiting the show.
