Gen V Season 1 introduced us to Chance Perdomo's Andre Anderson, one of the protagonists. Andre is the son of the Vought superhero Polarity, who has magnetic manipulation powers. Andre has inherited his father's magnetic abilities and also the latter's medical condition. Repeated use of his powers has caused microtears in his brain, which could be fatal, setting up the tragic events of Gen V Season 2.

What happened to Andre in Gen V Season 2?

While we knew of Andre's passing ever since the makers confirmed that they weren't going to recast Chance Perdomo. The production team confirmed that Chance Perdomo would not be recast for Gen V Season 2 through a public statement in early May 2024:

"As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to re-craft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season."

The production team was just days away from starting the filming of season 2. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed it in a May 2024 Entertainment Weekly interview:

"It's been challenging, to say the least. We were a week away from shooting when Chance passed away tragically. So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks. But what I tell people when they say 'wow, that's really crazy or difficult' [is] that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through. It's the least we could do."

We are told that Andre tried to break out of the Elmira Center by bringing down a metal door. However, his brain couldn't handle the pressure of his powers, and Andre died in confinement. Season 2 showrunner Michele Fazekas addressed honoring Chance in a Variety interview this July:

“It felt really important. The thing I’m most proud of, when you watch the entirety of the season, is he is there the whole way, in a way that feels real — because it is real. I’m very proud that we honored him beginning to end.”

What is season 2 about?

The second season is set after the events of the first season, which saw Marie, Emma, Andre, and Jordan held captive in the Elmira Center. Marie broke out of the facility before the season 2 premiere, and the same applies to Andre's passing as well. The spin-off of The Boys, the series is set after the fallout of the season 4 finale, where Homelander is the de facto ruler of the US.

"In Season Two, school is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it."

The first two seasons of Gen V and four seasons of The Boys are available on Prime Video. Binge them all before The Boys Season 5 releases on the platform on April 8, 2026.
