Grant Show to play Blake Carrington in Dynasty reboot

Melrose Place alum Grant Show has been cast in the upcoming Dynasty reboot as patriarch Blake Carrington.

The CW's upcoming reboot of the classic 1980s soap opera Dynasty is coming along quite nicely, with Melrose Place and Devious Maids alum Grant Show being one of the first actors to sign on.

TV Line reports the Michigan native has been cast in the role of wealthy patriarch Blake Carrington, formerly played by John Forsythe in the original Aaron Spelling version of the soap.

The racially diverse remake, from Gossip Girl's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, is described as "a modernized reboot that follows two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children," as told "primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington -- daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington -- and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America's most powerful class."

As Soap Central previously reported, the new Dynasty is set to expose the "dark underbelly" of the one percent, "a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal, and, in some cases, murder."
