Y&R and B&B deliver largest audiences in nearly a year

The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful closed out 2017 with some of the best ratings they've had all year.

Time will tell whether or not 2018 will start off with a bang for The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, but both soap operas seem to have ended 2017 on a high note.

According to Nielsen, Live Plus Same Day Ratings, Y&R managed to pull in 4.8 million total viewers for the week ending December 29, the series' largest weekly audience in nearly a year (since the week of January 6, 2017). Storylines that wowed viewers included Mariah gifting Sharon with a "mom" ornament, Jack opting to remain CEO of Jabot and hiring a caregiver for Dina, Mattie ratting out Reed for drunk driving, Victor and Nikki renewing their vows, and Nick catching Abby and Scott kissing.

Meanwhile, B&B attracted 3.77 million total viewers, its largest audience since the week ending February 17, 2017. Storylines that drew viewers in included Brooke thinking Thorne should move out because of her engagement to Ridge, Wyatt bailing out on a role-play session with Katie, Thorne declining Katie's offer to move in with her, Justin successfully pressing Bill for the truth about Steffy, and Steffy learning Liam is the father of her baby.
