Character actress Elsa Raven, who appeared on both General Hospital and Days of our Lives, has passed away. The South Carolina native was 91.

Daytime fans are mourning the death of Elsa Raven, who made memorable appearances on both General Hospital and Days of our Lives during her nearly 50-year career. The actress passed away on November 3 at the age of 91.

As longtime soap fans may recall, Raven appeared on Capitol in 1982 before joining GH in 1986 as Tessie. The character was involved in a storyline with Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and she had a memorable death, having been shot dead in scenes that were filmed on location in Atlantic City (below).

From 1998 to 1999, Raven played the role of DAYS' Lucille, the caretaker of elderly Swiss resident Lili Faversham (Millicent Martin) -- who proved that Hope (Kristian Alfonso) was really Princess Gina.

Raven's career spanned nearly 50 years and included many primetime roles on shows like ER, Seinfeld, Chicago Hope, Madman of the People, Wiseguy, and Amen. She is likely most recognizable from her film roles, though. She played the "Save the Clock Tower" woman in Back to the Future, a real estate lady who sells a family a haunted house in 1979's The Amityville Horror, and one half of the elderly couple seen tenderly clutching each other in bed as their ship went down in Titanic.

Michael J. Fox remembered Raven in a recent interview, commenting that though her role in Back to the Future was short, it was very memorable.

"It took me a long time to go to any of those Back to the Future conventions or Comic-Con conventions, and when I finally did go, she was there," he shared with Movie Web. "It was so great to see her, and she was walking through the crowd and saying, 'Save the clock tower! Save the clock tower!'"

He continues, "It still meant something in her life, and it still meant something to the people around her. And that's kind of the movie in a nutshell: It's just, you have this life, it carries on and it carried on in her. And she really celebrated it. It was a good thing."

Deadline reports that the actress was survived by 15 nieces and nephews. No memorial plans have been announced.
