The Writers Guild of America has announced its 2022 nominees in several categories, including daytime television. Congratulations are in order for Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless, all of which are official nominees in the Daytime Drama category in this year's competition.
A spokesperson for The Bold and the Beautiful confirms that the show once again chose not to submit, which is why it is not included on the list of soap opera nominees.
This year will be an interesting race, because any one of the nominated soaps -- which were chosen based on votes cast by 15,000 WGA members -- could win the category. General Hospital won the trophy for five years in a row, from 2015 to 2019, before The Young and the Restless broke GH's winning streak in 2020. Meanwhile, Days of our Lives won in 2021, which was the NBC soap's first WGA win since 2014.
The names of the nominees from each of the three soaps' writing teams are as follows:
General Hospital (ABC)
