LISTEN: Eva LaRue guest stars on Jacob Young's podcast; pair discuss All My Children reboot and upcoming secret project

All My Children alums Jacob Young (ex-J.R. Chandler) and Eva LaRue (ex-Maria Santos) discuss the primetime revival of the ABC soap opera, a secret project for which they recently reunited, and more on Young's podcast, Real Conversations with Jacob Young.

Soap opera alum Jacob Young (ex-J.R. Chandler, All My Children; ex-Rick Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Lucky Spencer, General Hospital) recently launched a mental health podcast called Real Conversations, and Pine Valley fans will be thrilled to know that his most recent episode features his former AMC costar Eva LaRue (ex-Maria Santos; Celeste Rosales, The Young and the Restless).

The actress, who's also known for her role as Natalia Vista on CSI: Miami, spends nearly an hour and a half chatting with Young about a variety of topics, including the fact that she began the year with a positive COVID diagnosis (which you can read more about here), as well as her experience mourning the death of her ex-husband, John Callahan (ex-Edmund Grey, AMC; ex-Dr. Baker, Days of our Lives; ex-Craig Hunt, Santa Barbara), who passed away in March.

Of course, the pair also chatted about the recent huge All My Children news: ABC is in the early stages of creating a primetime version of the long-running soap opera, currently being referenced as Pine Valley.

"Isn't that like amazing news?" LaRue enthuses to Young of the potential reboot. "It's so exciting, because you and I, we were all just talking about this, that All My Children still has so many fans of so many ages, that it's just a shame that it couldn't be reimagined as a nighttime or primetime project. And sure enough, it's not a month and a half later that we hear this fantastic news, that they really are going to be doing the pilot for the show."

The actress says that though it seems the reboot is only getting a pilot at this stage, she thinks it will definitely make the cut to become a full-fledged series.

"I think if they just put it to the fans, the fans would never let them down," she says. "They would have to give it a shake as an actual series, because I just think the fans will show up."

As Soap Central previously reported, Pine Valley is set to follow a young journalist with a secret agenda who comes to expose the dark and murderous history of Pine Valley, only to become entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.

With LaRue having played a major part of the original AMC's Santos family -- as Hector and Isabella's eldest daughter, Maria -- the most obvious question is, will she be a part of the primetime reboot?

"I still haven't heard anything yet other than what we've all heard, that they're going to do the pilot. I don't know anything else," LaRue confesses, adding that she's hopeful that she'll be asked to participate. "I'm kind of hoping that January -- though it didn't kick off well for me -- gets better in the next few weeks!"
