A Minecraft Movie is an upcoming adventure comedy movie that is based on the 2011 Mojang Studios computer game of the same name. It was written by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer and directed by Jared Hess.


Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen joined the cast in November 2023. Emma Myers also joined the cast in December. Jack Black joined the cast in January 2024 after hinting at his role on his official Instagram account. Jemaine Clement, Kate McKinnon, and Jennifer Coolidge were also cast in unspecified roles.

He also starred as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe movies.

Born on August 28, 1969, Thomas Jacob "Jack" Black is an American musician, comedian, and actor. In addition to his voice work in animated films, he is well-known for his performances in comedies and family movies.

Emma Myers portrays Natalie in the movie. She is an American actress who was born on April 2, 2002. Her role in the Wednesday series (2022–present) garnered her fame. She has also acted in the mystery series A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (2024) and the comedy film Family Switch (2023).

Danielle Brooks portrays Dawn in the movie. She is an American actress who was born on September 17, 1989. Her breakout role came in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019).

Sebastian Eugene Hansen portrays Henry in the movie. The new actor is not that well-known yet. As one of the four primary misfit characters, Hansen is expected to have his breakthrough performance in A Minecraft Movie.


What is A Minecraft Movie about?


There isn’t much information revealed about the plot of the movie. But the following statement had been released by Warner Bros. Pictures:


Four misfits—Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like piglins and zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative...the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.
