Born on April 14, 1973, Adrien Brody is the son of parents Sylvia Plachy, a photographer, and Elliot Brody. The actor was born in New York City, in the United States, and had completed his education in the same city. Sylvia is a well-known photographer. She studied photography at the Pratt Institute in New York City, receiving her B.F.A. in 1965, and her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums located in Berlin, Budapest, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Paris and Tokyo.

On the other hand, it is known that Adrien’s father, Elliot, is a retired history professor and painter. While not much has been revealed about his father, it is known that he belonged to Polish-Jewish descent, and his mother was born in Budapest, Hungary, and later relocated to the United States after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.

Talking about how his story in The Brutalist mirrored his original life, Adrien Brody said, “My mother and my grandparents owned a very similar journey of fleeing war-torn Europe and coming to the U.S. in the ’50s. And the hardships and sacrifice and their own resilience and everything that they endured — in addition to my mother as an artist and her yearnings to leave behind a body of work of some great significance, they’re all things that are very personal to me. So I felt a deep responsibility to convey that authentically.”
