At the age of 13, Adrien made his acting debut in a PBS TV film and an Off-Broadway play. He co-starred in "Bullet" with Mickey Rourke and Tupac Shakur in 1996. He was on the verge of becoming famous after being nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his performance in the 1998 movie "Restaurant."

Although he received widespread praise for his performances in films such as "The Thin Red Line" (1998) and "Summer of Sam" (1999), he wasn't catapulted into the spotlight until his compelling depiction of Polish Jew Wladyslaw Szpilman in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" (2002).

After winning the Oscar, Brody worked with renowned filmmakers like Peter Jackson on the 2005 version of "King Kong," Wes Anderson on "The Darjeeling Limited," and Peter Jackson on "The Grand Budapest Hotel." His variety of roles included comedy roles in "Midnight in Paris" and psychological thrillers like "The Jacket".

The television shows "Peaky Blinders," "Succession," and his leading parts in "Clean" (2020) and "See How They Run" (2022) are among his more recent works. He received a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture in January 2025 for his performance in "The Brutalist."
