Edward John David Redmayne, popularly known as Eddie Redmayne, is a British actor. He was born on January 6, 1982, in London, England, and has been working in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years. He attended Eton College alongside Prince William before studying the history of art at Trinity College, Cambridge. He made his screen debut in an episode of Animal Ark in 1998. Redmayne made his film debut with the film Like Minds (2006).

He got his breakthrough role as Colin Clark in the biopic My Week with Marilyn in 2011. He gained widespread popularity for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything in 2014 and won an Academy Award for his performance. In a 2016 interview with Time Out, Redmayne shared, “It's great that she found me attractive then and still does. It's also wonderful having a shared history and friends, even though we didn't get together for 15 years."

After being friends for 12 years, Redmayne and Bagshawe started dating in 2012. In a 2015 interview with Daily Mail, he shared, “I'd finished rehearsals and was about to start shooting in a few days and so I said to myself, 'I'm going to go to Florence for a quick break and write or do something like that.' Before I went, Hannah and I were on a sort of date — we'd been good friends for 12 years — and we had a wonderful evening and I suddenly said, 'You don't want to come to Florence with me next week, do you?' She said, 'That's absurd, you don't mean it.' I said, 'Yes I do!' So our first proper date was in Florence.”

In May 2014, the couple got engaged, and Bagshawe was seen with her engagement ring at the premiere of the film The Theory of Everything. A few months later, on December 15, 2014, they got married in an intimate ceremony in Somerset, England. The wedding was attended by their close friends and family. They went to the Alps for their honeymoon. They are often seen attending major events together, such as the Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, and the Met Gala.

Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe are parents to two children- Iris and Luke. The couple became parents for the first time in June 2016 when Bagshawe gave birth to their daughter, Iris Mary Redmayne. In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Redmayne talked about when they took their daughter to her first Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and said, “There was this fear like, 'What if she cries lots and then they don't sleep and they blame all of their lack of success on Iris?' But she was amazing. She was so calm."

Redmayne and Bagshawe welcomed their second child, a son named Luke Richard Bagshawe Redmayne, on March 10, 2018. In an interview with Crash magazine in April 2022, Redmayne talked about his work-life balance and his children. He said, “The acting world has such a weird life rhythm that constantly shifts. When it comes to my family, I personally had quite a stable upbringing and I'm endlessly trying to find some stability for my kids."
