There are six Home Alone movies in the Home Alone franchise. It is an American family comedy film series that was first produced by John Hughes.
The Home Alone movies follow the adventures of local kids who are left on their own over the holidays and must protect themselves or their family's home from trespassers and crooks. 20th Century Fox released the first three movies in theaters, while Fox Television Studios produced the next two made-for-television movies, which were shown on ABC, which is owned by Disney. After Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, the newly rebranded 20th Century Studios created the sixth part of the franchise for the Disney-owned streaming service Disney+.

Macaulay Culkin plays Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy whose wish for his family to vanish is fulfilled when they unintentionally leave him at home while on a Christmas holiday in Paris. He enjoys spending time alone at first but is eventually joined by two robbers, Harry and Marv (played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, respectively). Kevin uses a series of booby traps to eventually outsmart them.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
The story in the second part of the franchise centers on Kevin McCallister while he is away from his family during their Florida vacation. After the Wet Bandits break out of prison, he meets them again in New York City.
Home Alone 3 (1997)
The plot centers on 8-year-old Alex Pruitt, who protects his house from a violent group of foreign criminals who are affiliated with a terrorist group.
It's the third movie in the Home Alone series, the only one that isn't set around Christmas, and the first that doesn't include filmmaker Chris Columbus, composer John Williams, Macaulay Culkin, or any of the cast from the first two Home Alone movies. Additionally, it is the last Home Alone movie to be released in theatres.
Home Alone 4 (2002)
The plot centers on Kevin McCallister, who spends Christmas with his father and his new fiancée as his old adversary Marv and his wife Vera, with the help of an insider Kevin least expects, devise a scheme to kidnap a visiting prince. This is the first film in the Home Alone series to not be released in theatres.
Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012)
The story revolves around Finn Baxter, who sets up booby traps to capture the ghost of the previous resident of his new home. He subsequently learns that he has to defend the house and his sister from three foolish art thieves. Following Home Alone 3, it is the second movie that does not center on the McCallister family, although it pays homage to the first three.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
The story revolves around Max Mercer, an innovative and wicked kid who gets left behind while his family is on vacation in Japan. It is Max's responsibility to keep the Mercer family's house safe from trespassers when a married couple trying to recover a valuable heirloom targets it.
Home Sweet Home Alone, the first Home Alone movie to be made for Disney+, was the sixth film in the Home Alone series and the first original production for the streaming service.
