Jason Segel's parents are Jillian Jordan and Alvin Segel. He has an older brother named Adam Segel and a younger sister named Alison Segel.


Jason Jordan Segel is an actor and writer who is best known for his role as Marshall Eriksen in How I Met Your Mother from 2005 to 2014. The American actor made his acting debut in 1998 on Can’t Hardly Wait but got his breakthrough a year later with director and producer Judd Apatow’s Freaks and Geeks. From there, Segel’s career went on an upward track as he gained recognition for his roles in various comedy films. That includes Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Bad Teacher, This is 40, Knocked Up, Sex Tape, and more over the years. He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his role in the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, which he co-created.

Jason Segel was born on January 18, 1980, in Santa Monica, California to Jillian Jordan and Alvin Segel. While his mother’s profession is unknown, it is known that his father, Alvin, was a lawyer while Segel grew up in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. He also revealed that his father is Jewish while his mother is of Scottish, Irish, French, and English descent and that he was raised Jewish as well. However, Segel also admitted, in an interview, that his parents gave him the freedom to choose the religion he wanted to follow and thus he was raised with a ‘little bit of everything.’

Jason Segel has two siblings; an older brother named Adam Segel who is a money manager and a younger sister named Alison Segel who is a writer. While little to no information is available about his brother, it is known that his sister, Alison, currently lives in Los Angeles. Not only that, she is a writer and has bylines for various publications such as Refinery 29, The Hairpin, Cosmo, Vice, Elite Daily, and more. She was also a teacher between 2009 and 2013 for Santa Barbara School Districts and is also a graphic designer, artist, and more.
