The American actor and writer Jason Jordan Segel was born on January 18, 1980, in Santa Monica, California, U.S. His most well-known role was that of Marshall Eriksen in the 2005–2014 CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother.


He started his career working with producer and director Judd Apatow on the television shows Undeclared and Freaks and Geeks before becoming well-known for his leading parts in several popular comedy films that he has written, produced, and starred in.

Jason Segel played the character of Marshall Erikson, one of the main leads in the American sitcom, How I Met Your Mother.


Craig Thomas and Carter Bays created the American sitcom How I Met Your Mother (commonly shortened to HIMYM) for CBS. The show, which ran from September 19, 2005, to March 31, 2014, centers around Ted Mosby and his companions in Manhattan, New York City. As a frame story, Ted (in 2030) tells his son Luke and daughter Penny about what happened between September 2005 and May 2013 that resulted in his meeting their mother.
