He met his future wife, writer Jennifer Lash aka Jini, in 1961. Jini’s first novel, “The Burial” was published when she was only 23 years old.

By the time Mark and Jini got married, Jini published her second novel “The Climate of Belief”. Jini shifted her focus to drawing and painting after the birth of their first child, Ralph. “I don’t know. There must be some malformed gene there or something, I don’t know. Are we rivals? Absolutely not – we all get on very well indeed. Now, we are all very conscious of the next generation coming along. I have two daughters, my siblings have children and there is a sense of them being at the centre of things.”

Fiennes is married to actress and photographer Maria Dolores Dieguez. They have two daughters, Sam, who was born in 2010, and Isabel, who was born in 2011.
