Keira Knightley is a British actress, born on March 26, 1985, in London, England. She is known for her iconic roles in Pirates of the Caribbean (2003), Pride & Prejudice (2005), and The Imitation Game (2014). She is a talented and versatile actress who worked on multiple projects from commercial hits to independent films. Keira was interested in acting from a very young age, inspired by her parents. She wanted an agent like her parents and at the age of 6, she had her own agent. Soon, she began appearing in commercials and small TV roles.


Keira Knightley's debut film was Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. She played a minor role in the film. Her breakthrough role was in 2002, in the film Bend It Like Beckham. She gained more recognition for her role as Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean series (2003 – 2007). Over the years, she has acted in a wide range of films, from romantic dramas to historical biopics. She worked on many big projects like Love Actually (2003), Atonement (2007), Begin Again (2013), The Imitation Game (2014), and others. Keira Knightley was born into a creative family. Her parents are also in the field of art, they both met while working in a theater. Her father, Will Knightley, was an actor, He has worked in theater, television, and films, building a successful career in the performing arts. Apart from his work on stage, he also did voice-over work and appeared on a few TV shows. He has acted in The Bill (1984), A Touch Of Frost (1992), and Midsummer Murders (1997). Will is known for his stage performances and has appeared in various plays. He is also a founding member of Half Moon Theater in London. Keira is his youngest child. She has one older brother, Caleb Knightley, who has mostly stayed out of the spotlight.


Her mother, Sharman Macdonald, started her career as an actress before transitioning to writing, where she found success with plays like When I Was a Girl I Used to Scream and Shout. She has written many plays including The Beast (1986), Night Night (1988), and Soft Fall the Sounds of Eden (2004). She also wrote the screenplay for one of the movies Keira worked in, The Edge of Love (2008). In one of the interviews with Digital Spy in 2008 she described how her mother was. She said, "Mum's a bit mental in a good way. She's this chilled-out hippy mother. My house was always the one where my brother and his mates would be drinking when they shouldn't be."

Keira Knightley is married to James Righton, a musician and member of the band Klaxons. She started dating James Righton in 2011. They met each other through a mutual friend at a dinner party. The couple kept their dating life very private as they both believed in keeping their personal life away from public life. The couple got married after dating for two years, in an intimate and small ceremony in Mazan, France in May 2013. After their wedding, James told NME, "It was the greatest day ever, it was fantastic. We're still high from it. It was about two weeks ago, it was a big party."


The couple are parents to two daughters, Edie (born in 2015) and Delilah (born in 2019). Keira Knightley shared her experience of motherhood after the birth of her daughters. In an interview with Elle, she said, "The love thing is astonishing," "It's a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary." Both Keira and James maintain a private lifestyle, focusing on their family and keeping their daughters out of the spotlight while balancing their careers.
