Rami Malek is an Egyptian-American actor recognized for his award-winning performances in television and film. Born on May 12, 1981, he attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. Malek also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Evansville, Indiana in 2003.


His career in acting began through supporting roles in shows like “Gilmore Girls (2004)” where he played Andy in 2004 and “War at Home (2005)” where he portrayed Kenny. He has also performed in theatrical productions such as Vitality Productions’ “The Credeaux Canvas” based on Keith Bunin’s play, where he played Jamie.


Malek went on to earn numerous accolades throughout his career including an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award for his embodiment of Queen’s lead vocalist and pianist, Freddie Mercury, in “Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).” He also received a Primetime Emmy Award for the role of Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and a vigilante hacker in “The Robot (2015).”


His upcoming film, “The Amateur,” directed by James Hawes will have him portray the character of Charlie Heller. The movie is all set for a theatrical release on April 11, 2025. Malek also plays Douglas Kelley in James Vanderbilt’s historical thriller “Nuremberg,” based on Jack- El-Hai’s publication “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist (2013).”

Malek’s character portrayals in films include the Pharaoh Ahkmenrah in the “Night at the Museum” film series that helped him establish his presence in the industry. He also appeared in productions such as “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part II (2012),” and “The Master (2012)” which led to a wider recognition.


He delivered an Academy Award winning performance in “The Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).” The depiction earned him several awards, including the prestigious Golden Globe Award. Following his success, he was cast as the main antagonist Lyutsifer Safin in “No Time to Die (2021)” of the James Bond franchise. Malek also appeared in Christopher Nolan’s 2023 Oscar-winning film “Oppenheimer.”

Following his portrayals of supporting characters in the initial few shows, Malek went on to play a crucial role in HBO’s 2010 war drama miniseries “The Pacific.” However, his breakthrough role was as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity expert dealing with mental health issues, in ABC Network’s “Mr. Robot (2015).” His performance earned him a Primetime Emmy Award among several other prestigious awards.


Malek was also the voice behind Tahno in the Nickelodeon animated series “The Legend of Korra (2012)" and Flip McVicker in the Netflix animated series "Bojack Horseman (2017).”
