Simone Missick is an American actress best known for her role as Misty Knight in Marvel’s “Luke Cage (2016)”. Born on January 19, 1982, in Detroit, Michigan she has gained recognition for her diverse character roles. She initially pursued music and sports before eventually following her passion for acting.


Her interest led her to graduate in English along with a minor in Theatre Arts from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Missick further honed her skills by training beside industry legends such as Alan Rickman, Ben Kingsley, and Jane Lapotaire in England’s prestigious British American Drama Academy. Her theater debut was through her role as Silver in Dominique Morrisseau’s “Paradise Blue” in 2018.


She acts in shows such as “The Defenders (2017),” “Iron Fist (2018),” “All Rise (2019),” and “Altered Carbon (2020).” Over the years, she has taken an interest in producing and served as the producer of Orion Pictures’ “Jinn (2018)" and the legal drama series “All Rise (2019).”

Simone Missick will star as Astoria Chambers, Hampton Chambers’ (David Oyelowo) wife, in Apple TV+’s upcoming family comedy-drama “Government Cheese (2025).” Also starring Adam Beach, Bokeem Woodbine, and Jean-Michel Richaud, the series is set in 1969 San Fernando Valley, California.


The plot picks up from Chambers’ release from prison, and the events that follow. His absence has undoubtedly changed his family and his return tilts their world right back and toward chaos. Government Cheese premieres on April 16, 2025, on Apple TV+.
