Not only that, he made his small screen debut in 1971, starring in a children’s television series The Electric Company, with roles in Attica, Another World, The Twilight Zone, and more during the 1970s and 1980s.

It also earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his performance in the former and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. That led to more premium roles as he starred in Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven, Deep Impact, and more in the 1990s.

It also earned Freeman his second Academy Award nomination for his role in Shawshank Redemption. However, it wasn’t until 2004 that the actor won his first Oscar for his role in Million Dollar Baby, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
