According to his ex-wife, Grace Hightower, in her divorce filing, she claimed that De Niro has earned $250 – $300 million between 2004 and 2018 from his films and business.


In an interview with an Argentine magazine, De Niro revealed that he earned just $50 for his debut film The Wedding Party, which was filmed in 1963 but released in 1969. In 1976, he earned $35,000 as a salary for the hit film Taxi Driver. After the success of The Godfather Part II and winning an Oscar for his performance, his salary increased, and he charged $500,000 per film. In 1978, he earned $1 million for his work in the war film The Deer Hunter. By the early 2000s, he charged $14 million per film.


Apart from acting, De Niro has invested in real estate and businesses. He is the co-founder of the Nobu franchise of high-end sushi restaurants and hotels.
