The American actor Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa, better known as Jason Momoa, is from Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born on August 1, 1979, to Coni (née Lemke), a photographer, and Joseph Momoa, a painter.


His acting career began as Jason Ioane on the syndicated action drama series Baywatch: Hawaii (1999–2001). He went on to play Ronon Dex on the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis (2005–2009) and Khal Drogo in the first two seasons of HBO’s fantasy drama series Game of Thrones (2011–2012).

Momoa, an only child, was born on August 1, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to painter Joseph Momoa and photographer Coni (née Lemke). His mother is German, Irish, and Pawnee, while his father is Native Hawaiian. His mother and he went to Norwalk, Iowa, where he was raised after his parents divorced shortly after he was born. Alongside Brandon Routh, he played soccer for Norwalk High School, where he graduated. Momoa was a student at Mānoa's University of Hawaiʻi.
