The Last Supper tells the story of one of the most important events in Christian history with a fresh perspective. The film focuses on Jesus Christ’s last meal with his disciples before he was crucified. It is set in ancient Jerusalem and follows Jesus and his disciples as they gather for their final meal, unaware of the betrayal that will soon unfold. The film highlights Jesus' teachings and the beginning of the Eucharist while also highlighting the emotions and struggles of his followers.

In an interview with CNA, the director and executive producer of the film, Mauro Borrelli and Chris Tomlin, talked about the inspiration behind the film. They shared that the film is inspired by the famous painting of the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. Borrelli said, “I was really passionate about the idea of expanding such an important moment of the Eucharist. People go to church all the time, they receive Communion, and they hear those words, ‘This is my body,’ and it’s such an important moment but they don’t have many images to connect [to it]. So I said, ‘I want to expand that.’”
