Mission: Impossible II is an American spy action movie that is the 2nd movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise and was released in 2000. The movie was directed by John Woo, and produced by actor Tom Cruise. The story begins with bio-genetics scientist Doctor Vladimir Nekhorvich who sends out a message to his friend Dimitri (Ethan Hunt’s alias) informing him that Biocyte Pharmaceuticals forced him to develop a biological weapon, the Chimera virus, to profit from the cure, Bellerophon.


As the story continues, the scientist is killed and rogue IMF agent Sean Ambrose steals the bioweapon. Now to retrieve them back, Ethan (played by Tom Cruise) and his team are tasked with stopping Ambrose and destroying the virus for good. The movie brings in various talented actors like Dougray Scott, Thandiwe Newton, Richard Roxburgh, John Polson, Brendan Gleeson, Rade Šerbedžija, and Ving Rhames, working alongside Tom Cruise.

Actor Anthony Hopkins is seen playing the role of Commander Swanbeck in a cameo appearance during Mission: Impossible II. He was seen as the new head of the IMF in the second movie of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Swanbeck was seen briefing Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) about his mission to retrieve the Chimera virus and stop Sean Ambrose. He was also the one to advise Ethan to bring in Nyah Nordoff-Hall, a professional thief who had a personal relationship with Ambrose.
