Young Mazino’s performance portraying Paul Cho in the Netflix series Beef earned him great fame. For his performance, the actor was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. Netflix released the ten-episode series on April 6, 2023.

Young Mazino’s life & career

Christopher Young Kim is from Maryland. He was raised by two Korean immigrant parents in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has two sisters who are older than him. At the age of sixteen, his father left Korea to move to the United States. Mazino is a taekwondo first-degree black belt.

After dropping out of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, he moved to New York City in 2014 to train for a year at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Mazino spent six years as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst at LVMH's Fresh before landing his breakthrough role in the Netflix series, Beef.

In 2018, Mazino decided to go by "Young Mazino" as his stage name. Mazino's genuine middle name and the name of a comic book character, Urek Mazino from Tower of God, which was created by Korean artist S.I.U., are combined to form the name. He clarified that when he was enrolling with the Screen Actors Guild in 2018, he chose to use a fake name since there were too many actors using his true last name. Before landing a breakthrough role as Paul, the younger brother of Steven Yeun in the popular Netflix series Beef, he appeared in many short films and television series.
