Zendaya is the daughter of Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman.


Zendaya is one of the most famous actresses among the upcoming new generation of celebrities in Hollywood. The actress started as a young television star in Shake It Up (2010–2013). She received her first big screen role in the movie Lemonade which was aired in 2016. The actress received major recognition for playing the role of MJ in MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy. During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Zendaya explained how her mom and dad played a huge part in keeping her grounded amidst all the fame and success she has received. She said, "I gotta give it up to my parents. I'm really lucky to have the parents that I have. They just have always instilled in me those core values that I think I have to carry with me through everything. I give it up to them, I give it up to my family."

While Zendaya has kept her family life and personal information private from social media, there are bits and pieces that she has revealed about her family. Her mother Claire Stoermer used to work as a school teacher along with taking care of the actress and her other siblings. When she was young, Zendaya revealed that she used to look up to her mom as a role model. During an interview with Teen Vogue in 2016, Zendaya said, "Growing up, I watched my mom teach in the heart of Oakland, Calif., at inner-city schools that were always underfunded. My mom went above and beyond, working constantly to open her students' eyes to an education that could lift them far beyond their current circumstances."


She concluded her words by saying, "She would introduce them to the arts, guide them through the language of Shakespeare, and show them the wonders of nature outside city life — all things that they wouldn't have experienced otherwise."

Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, like Zendaya's mom, was also known to be a teacher by profession. As of 2024, her father serves as her manager taking care of the tasks at hand for Zendaya. With both her parents being teachers, Zendaya often claimed that school life was kinda tough as she had to study hard and gain more grades knowing her parent's profession.
