The summer of 2017 will always be the one in which General Hospital fans thought they were going to lose William deVry in the role of Julian Jerome. The actor and the ABC soap were tangled in complicated contract negotiations for weeks on end -- but just when viewers feared the worst, GH's executive producer, Frank Valentini, announced in August that the fan favorite would be staying put in Port Charles. deVry also tweeted about his status with the soap, revealing that his return to set was on October 16.
"Thanks 2 fans 4 ur help/support/love," he wrote on Twitter at the time. "Was always confidant, but took awhile eh?!??"

deVry was last seen on the GH canvas several months ago, when Julian was thrown into prison for crimes he committed under Olivia's orders. And the actor teases that fans will most definitely want to tune in when he's finally back on-screen because Julian will be righting a lot of wrongs.
"I'm trying to play that he was protecting his family," deVry shares with Soaps In Depth. "He did what he had to do and he's prepared to pay the price. He doesn't want to pay that price. He doesn't want to lose his family, but he did what he did to save them, and he's okay with that!"
As for the future of Julian and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahan), co-head writer Shelly Altman reveals there will be definitely be complications. "But whether it will be as a couple or as separate people," she teases, "is yet to be seen!"
Either way, Julexis fans are confident that their beloved on-screen pair will persevere.
