Hallmark has treated viewers with special When Calls the Heart films the last four years in a row, and 2019 will see a fifth film starring Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco Jones, General Hospital; ex-Nick Marone, The Bold and the Beautiful).
Titled When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas, this year's special finds Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) excited to celebrate Christmas with her son, Little Jack, as well as his first birthday on Christmas Eve. But the holiday season isn't all holly and jolly, as Elizabeth misses Jack Sr. (Daniel Lissing) as she tries to create a Christmas for her son that's as special as the holidays she experienced while growing up. To complicate matters, two newcomers to Hope Valley -- Constable Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) and Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) -- make their attraction to Elizabeth increasingly clear.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth is drawn into a crisis involving Nathan's niece, Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller), when he's faced with a life-altering decision. Later, Lucas puts on a show for Elizabeth and the entire town that transforms Main Street into a magical German Christmas Festival. Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) are there to support Elizabeth at every turn but also obsess over their own challenge to come up with the perfect Christmas present for Little Jack. In contrast, Bill (Wagner) knows exactly what he intends to give his godson -- but anxiety abounds when he misplaces the gift.
Carson (Paul Greene) and Faith (Andrea Brooks) get their signals crossed as they try to spend their first Christmas together as a couple. Faith arrives back in Hope Valley to surprise Carson, only to discover that he's taken the train to be with her. Carson's journey home turns complicated by a series of misadventures.
As fans of When Calls the Heart know, each Christmas special serves as a sneak peek of what's ahead in the coming season of the TV series. The seventh season of When Calls the Heart is set to premiere in February 2020.
