This year's Indie Series Awards handed big wins to actors like Sean Kanan (ex-A.J. Quartermaine, General Hospital; ex-Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful/The Young and the Restless), Patrika Darbo (ex-Shirley Spectra, B&B; ex-Nancy Wesley, Days of our Lives), Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller, GH), A Martinez (ex-Eduardo Hernandez, DAYS; ex-Roy DiLucca, GH), and Kevin Spirtas (ex-Craig Wesley, DAYS).

The 11th annual Indie Series Awards took place last night via its first-ever virtual ceremony, and quite a few beloved soap opera stars took home awards from the ceremony that honors the best in independent web and digital series.

Sean Kanan (ex-A.J. Quartermaine, General Hospital; ex-Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful/The Young and the Restless) served as host of the online extravaganza that ended up recognizing him in more ways than just his hosting talents. The actor was awarded winner of the Lead Actor in a Drama category for his work in his Amazon series Studio City.

Kanan's show also saw wins for two of its female performers: Patrika Darbo (ex-Shirley Spectra, B&B; ex-Nancy Wesley, Days of our Lives) and Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller, GH), who tied in the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category -- which was reportedly the first tie in the awards show's history. Studio City was also honored in the Writing on a Drama Series category, with Kanan's wife, Michele Kanan, and Lauren de Normandie taking home awards.

Popular soap opera alum A Martinez (ex-Eduardo Hernandez, DAYS; ex-Roy DiLucca, GH) also scored a victory at the 2020 Indie Series Awards. He took home the Guest Actor in a Drama award for his performance on The Bay.

After Forever -- which was co-created by and stars Kevin Spirtas (ex-Craig Wesley, DAYS) -- took home top honors in the Best Drama Series category. Additionally, Tina Cesa Ward, who directed the second season of the series, was honored in the Best Directing in a Drama category, while production designer Scott Michael Salame won the Best Production Design category.

Meanwhile, Alex Wyse (ex-Saul Feinberg, B&B) won the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category for his work on his series Indoor Boys, which took home the award for Best Comedy Series the second year in a row. Wyse and his Indoor Boys co-creator, Wesley Taylor, also snagged a trophy for Best Direction. Their costars, Frankie Grande and three-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, took home awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.
